Episode 29: NotLocke (S6E04 "The Substitute")
Wedding planning is hard, especially if it's in a maybe-not-real-future-timeline! Due to life things, bringing you this episode recorded in April in ~checks watch~ July? whoops. At least neither of us are sentient islands trying to escape the confines of our mystical Pacific existence! Maybe we should check to see if one of us is buried in the backyard... "
Sawyer is drunk.
anyway come listen to my high school AU fanfic where Ben Linus and Locke are teachers and everything's fine. Just fine. totally fine.
Also there's a thing with numbers, so many numbers. Danielle's brain breaks once again as we try to figure out what the hell is going on in Season Six.
Episode beverage: Revision Brewing's High Juno
Episode 28: The Tailraiders' Tale (S2E07 "The Other 48 Days")
The creators rush to show what the Tailraiders (plz don't sue us Capcom) were doing for the entire first season in a single episode! Somehow this feels less rushed than Season 8 of Game of Thrones (which isn't discussed as we recorded before it started). As we discuss where bananas are cultivated, we're introduced to a bunch of new friends that are promptly killed off. Why is Nathan spending two hours solo in the jungle- did he eat a bad banana? An unsolved mystery, alas. Goodwin returns(?) and the flight attendant finally gets a name on this episode of Lost At Random! We also attempt to figure out what character class Mr. Eko happens to be. Why do the first two seasons love choppy slomo, and this feels like a weird way to reca- Er. Did they just kill Shannon in the final 10 seconds?!
Episode beverage: Pigpen's Hazy IPA by McMenamins, brewed at the McMenamins on Monroe location.
Episode 27: Knives, Aliens and Dinosaurs (S1E04, "Walkabout")
We're back after a short hiatus! Having a full time job can be draining, just like Locke's office job- better check our bags for knives. We're back to one of the earliest episodes as we discover the origins of the show's mysteries that EVERYONE knows. Everyone but Danielle, as she tries to figure out who the older, nicely dressed man is creeping on Jack? How is it that so many characters stare right up at a giant monster (possibly digger?) and still not describe what it looks like? Does Shannon have any redeeming qualities?
Episode beverage: Gosefish by Ghostfish Brewing Company
Episode 26: Flirty Banter (S3E17 "Catch-22")
Desmond sees Charlie's death, which obviously means he needs to do something like... a CAMPING TRIP! We hear all about Desmond's time making wine in one of the more convoluted backstory revelations of the show. How many different classes is Desmond gonna take? Jin tells the best Korean horror story of all time and everyone else is making awkward flirty banter. Those clever LOST writers sneak in a reference to the episode title, but we all know how it's gonna end already. Why is there a giant cable on the beach?
Episode Beverage: Plum Deluxe Rise and Shine tea.
Episode 25: Roll for Dharma Initiative! (S5E08 "LaFleur")
Everything flashes white. You're now in the 1970s; you only have the items that were on you when you disappeared. Was that a gunshot in the distance? ROLL FOR DHARMA INITIATIVE! LOST at Random makes a big genre shift as we give up on trying to figure out what is going on, and realize that everything can be solved with a good ol' charisma roll. Sawyer, Juliet, and Miles adapt to their new classes in the Dharma Initiative, but what skills will be necessary to take on the new challenges they might face? Just what level IS Richard Alpert anyway? The party is broken up, but how long until they rejoin? Wait, what? It's gonna take 3 years? Roll a survival check! Episode beverages: Acoustic Ales Unplugged 2016, Culmination Brewing Illusions of Grandeur, Matchless Bananas on Fire
Episode 24: Monica, I choose you! (S3E06 "I do")
We revisit Hydra Island where Kate and Sawyer are still locked in cages. In the flashback, Kate is getting married to a surprise Nathan Fillion! See, marriage and cages are a metaphor. Look how clever those LOST writers are. Jack is once again asked to perform surgery under duress. In case you forgot he was a doc-What's that? A wild Pokemon appears? How does that tie into LOST? Danielle might be getting closer to the actual identity of the smoke monster with a little help from Harry Potter. All this and more on the latest episode of Lost At Random. Episode beverage: Plum Deluxe Snow Day Tea.
Episode 23: Rescue Time Rangers (S4E02 "Confirmed Dead")
We've already met Dan, Charlotte, Miles and Frank on previous episodes, but here we see a little of their backstory! Why is there a polar bear in Tunisia (and how?) When did Locke see a tall Walt? What is the meaning of life? How much bullshit is Jack gonna say? In other words, the typical stuff. Danielle unravels more mysteries on this episode of Lost at Random (or maybe, just unravels).
Episode Beverage: Pfriem Beersell Brett Pale Ale and Dirt Road Juicy IPA
Episode 22: Locke'd in with Henry Gale! (S2E17 "Lockdown")
Locke's overly trusting self gets him into a bad spot both in the past and the present. We all know the important thing here is that we spend a lot of time analyzing the secret map on the hatch lockdown door. Jack and Sawyer have a dick measuring contest played out via a poker game. Some pretty good theorycrafting about the difference between the Others and the Dharma initiative and we have a great episode for everyone! Episode Beverage: Gen-Matcha Tea.
Episode 21: Would You Kill Baby Hitler? (S5E11 "Whatever Happened, Happened")
We jump forward, backwards, maybe even sideways in time to Season 5 where there's a whole lot of discussion about the finer details of time travel. Is there a paradox? Is everyone dead in the future? Is everyone dead in the past? How many surgeries will Benjamin Linus have to go through? What the hell is the wheel? Why is Jack still such a jerk? Should Syl watch the Anne Hathaway cinematic universe?
Find out this and more, on this exciting episode of Lost at Random!
Episode Beverage: Plum Deluxe Roasted Chestnut Chai Tea and Melvin Citradamus IIPA
Episode 20: I WILL NOT LET THIS SHOW DESTROY ME! (S3E19 "The Brig")
Locke has a guest appear on the Island. A girl falls from a helicopter. Sawyer explains how he got his name. Is Sawyer Locke's Dad!? Danielle gets lost in a complicated web of the afterlife, magic and science. We also spoil the absolute hell out of both Season 1 of The Good Place and Stranger Things. Seriously, don't listen if you haven't seen either of those shows first seasons yet. (You should!)
Episode beers: Matchless Spudman IPA and Chapman Fun Fact! IPA
Episode 19: How Michael Got a Boat (S2E24 "Live Together, Die Alone Part 2")
In what felt like a really long episode (partly because we watched both in the same sitting), we find out what it takes to blow up a bunker station, dabble in Egyptian hieroglyphs, ponder how deep Locke's crisis of faith goes, and guess whether or not the Others could put on a production of Fiddler on the Roof with their current costumes (or at least, Danielle guesses). Also, Michael obtains a boat.
Episode beverage: still the unlabeled barrel aged stout in a crowler from the previous episode because we watched both in the same sitting.
Episode 18: How Desmond Got a Boat (S2E23 "Live Together, Die Alone Part 1")
I naively thought we could do a two parter in one episode, but nope, two parter podcast episodes it is. In the season 2 finale, someone just had a funeral, Desmond shows back up and we discover why he's so into sailing. Locke has a crisis of faith. Also: doors?
Episode beverage: Caffeinated mint gum because Danielle was sleepy, and a mystery barrel-aged stout from a crowler, "BAM" from Les Caves.
Episode 17: International Adoptions and Polar Bears! (S1E14 "Special")
In our first Michael and Walt episode, we try to figure out just what the hell was going on with Walt's convoluted multi-national upbringing. Also someone is chased by a real live polar bear! Or is it all in Walt's Mind? Did Walt create the monster all along!?
Episode Beverage: Port Barrel Aged Scotch Silly 2013 by Brasserie De Silly
Episode 16: Mecha Jurassic Park (S1E01 "Pilot Part 1")
also this isn't just a castaway narrative- there is something BIG and SPOOKY and ODDLY MECHANICAL SOUNDING stalking the island! What do context clues tell us?? Also, is there evidence for Jack being drugged???
Episode beverage: Vanilla Toddy by Plum Deluxe (December's tea club selection)
Episode 15: Time is Weird and No One is Rescued (S4E01 "The Beginning of the End")
None of y'all are being rescued today calm down
Anyway this was a very dense episode and it took a while to parse.
Episode beverages: Firestone Walker Agrestic, 2015, Brasserie Trois Dames' Handle in Hand (barrel aged sour red with sage), and Evil Twin Brewing's Imperial Biscotti Chili Hazelnut Break
it was a long, dense episode okay
Episode 14: Hoarding Resources is Bad (S2E04 "Everybody Hates Hugo")

Episode 11: Time, Trust Issues, and Visions of Dead People (S4E10 "Something Nice Back Home")
Meanwhile, we seemingly have flashforwards again... or is it an alternative timeline? Hurly declares something that puts Danielle in a tailspin which is why this episode is our longest yet. :S
