Blended Families - Special Guest Miryka Yeates

Blended Families - Special Guest Miryka Yeates

Today, I will be speaking with Miryka Yeates, who is a mum of four and a step-mum to four children.

We discuss the challenges and joys blended families face, the roles step-mums play in children's lives, and how stories like Cinderella and Snow White have created internal and external perceptions of what step-mums are and the pressures related to those.

As a stepmum myself, I, too, share a lived experience of navigating the landscape of step-parenting. Miryka and I provide key insight into our journeys. Whether you are a stepparent or the biological parent, this episode may help shed light on the challenges many blended families face from a different perspective and help you to know that you're not alone.

I hope that our experiences can help you walk what can be a tricky path and find the joy of nurturing your relationships with your stepchildren and their parent with ease and self-acceptance.

I hope you enjoy the show.

Breaking Family Cycles and Building Bonds - I did it MY way.

Breaking Family Cycles and Building Bonds - I did it MY way.

Today, I will be speaking to Tara Britton Perkins, who is a mum of six and social media management specialist.

Tara shares her childhood story of being raised in a family where money was tight and life was tough. She shares the heartbreak of the challenges that poor mental health and alcoholism brought to her family, together with the loss of her dad at the age of 15 to suicide.

As a young person, Tara decided she knew she wanted more for her family when the time came to have children, and as a result, she has made it her business to break her family patterns and talks candidly about the challenges that she has faced together with what is clearly an incredible bond with her children in spite of the fact that she had very little positive experiences of how to be the parent that she wanted to be, but she certainly knew what she didn't want to be.

I hope you enjoy the show.

My baby wont sleep. HELP

My baby wont sleep. HELP

Today I will be speaking to Brenda Porter who is a mum of 4 and a Baby and toddler sleep coach. Brenda shares her own journey of when her eldest children were born and the challenges that she faced, experiencing sleep deprivation and post-natal depression whilst working in the corporate world. Lockdown hit, and Brenda took the opportunity to retrain and become a Baby and toddler sleep coach, as she recognised that there was an intrinsic link between her own experiences of sleep deprivation and her mental health and decided that she wanted to support parents to bring the joy back to their parenting journey by reshaping our mindsets and bedtime routines to ensure both babies and parents get the rest and recharge that they need to take on the day.
