The Race Conversations (via) The justme(Reka) show from Power 99.1
By Reka Robinson
This is my moment to share since I'm no longer living in fear of 'they' are sick of hearing it' or 'I'll get fired'.
My intention which you can hear more about in the trailer episode... is to educate myself on America, the laws and our rights. Plus while doing so, I can educate you. You won't just hear me talking, I'll be talking to lawyers, pastors, politicians and more.
Ready to learn? Ready to be a true ally?

Why your vote didn't count and how to fix it! Guest: Joe Lusignan
Did you vote count? How to know; Go to votewa.gov and see if your ballot says "accepted" if it doesn't, call the auditors office and ask why!
Benton county: (509) 736 2727 and/or auditor@co.benton.wa.us and/or elections@co.benton.wa.us
Franklin county: (509) 545-3502 and/or Elections@co.franklin.wa.us
I would email and call ASAP! If your ballot doesn't say accepted. If you're signature is wrong, there is a chance you can fix it. However for it to count in our Local election that was Aug. 4, 2020-- you must do this BEFORE 4:30 pm on August 17.
If you have a question! Ask, don't just sit around not knowing.
Feel free to hit me up but I'll probably just have you call the auditors office (info above)

A Conversation with Justin Raffa, He's Running For The Benton County Commissioner Seat in District 1
As a politician and a business owner I’ll need to have an idea of where you stand before I ever spend my money with you and/or vote for you.
I shouldn’t have to ask. As much as you post as a politician and business owner I should know by now—- where you stand.
Justin Raffa is the ONLY guy who has reached out to me who is running for the Benton County Commissioner District 1 seat.
Richland and W.Richland he will be on your Ballot Aug. 4th (Ballots mailed out July 17th)
Ask yourself this...
“do I know any of my politicians here?”
“Have they been speaking up on the issues that matter to me?”
Although we do need to be educated and I will use my platform as much as I can to not only educate YOU but me as well... it shouldn’t be THIS hard to figure out who is running our city and who they are.
Why do you think they are “hiding” ???
I believe it’s by design.
The Benton County commissioner’s make over $100,000 a year. WE are paying them.
Do you know what a commissioner does?
How they effect YOU?
They are stewards over a budget of about $220 million— that is OUR money and where is OUR money going?
That is the conversation I had with Justin and more... listen here:
We are their boss but can only give orders if we know what is going on.

A Conversation with Lena, a White Woman Who's Husband is Mexican
Today on the show is Lena, a listener who was open to answer my question "What conversations are happening in white house holds when it comes to race".
- Lena is married and her husband is Mexican. They are raising mixed kids-- so what are those conversations like?
I Was on The Radio In Australia, Having a Conversation about Race
This was so so so so so cool!
I'm here in America being interviewed by a radio station in Cairns Australia.
The station name: HIT 103.5 hosted by Carly and Seamus.
A Conversation with Rachel, a White Woman Who is Now Having Conversations About Race
...With her kids and with her family.
Questions I asked her:
- How did she grow up?
- Did she see race?
- Did she know racism existed.
- Why not when Trayvon Martin? Why now?
- How is she going to make a different now?
... and MORE!
A Conversation with Sergeant Rigo Pruneda of the Pasco Police Department
Two things can be true, you can want police reform but not hate police officers. This is a conversation about that... and more.
Questions I asked him:
- Why did he want to become a police officer?
- What is the difference between resisting arrest and not resisting arrest? Can they shoot someone in the back?
- What does defund the police actually mean? Why does Pasco Police have body and dash cameras but Kennewick and Richland do not? How can we as citizens of this community change that?
- If you were the officer with that 'officer' that killed George Floyd would you have stopped him?
... and More!
Me: Is your first instinct to shoot someone if they are running away from you?
Pruneda: No. No.
Me: Is it your job to bring someone in alive (into custody)?
Pruneda: It's 100% our job.
Me: so you don't see it as 'you're a criminal so whatever happens to you and you die I don't care'.
Pruneda: No. No. And you're right, people think that's how police think and that's not the case.
A Conversation with Council Woman Zahra Roach
On this podcast Zahra and I discussed more ways to bring change, especially on a political level, locally.
Questions she answered:
- Your first run and why you ran (Lost to Didier)(ran for franklin county commissioner)
- Why did you become a council member and what does that mean for us?
- Do you think protesting is important? Why?
- When is the census due? When can register to vote? Deadlines?
A Conversation with Vito De La Cruz (Lawyer)
I had the privilege of speaking with Latino and Native American Vito De La Cruz. He is partner at Tamaki Law representing people in lawsuits against police departments, Government agencies, clergy sexual abuse, and Boy Scout sexual abuse cases.
He's been practicing for 35 years and a graduate of Yale University and the University of California School of Law at Berkeley.
We discuss: Why do public defender’s get such a bad wrap? How can someone get a good public defender, since it's our right?
What is qualified immunity and how we can vote on that? Do we want qualified immunity for cops? What is malicious intent? And what is the "Justice and policing act of 2020" act? How can we reform our police departments?
What is the difference between
- 1st degree. 2nd & Manslaughter
In your personal opinion will they get off or be convicted? Why? In the following cases:
Ahmaud Arbery
George Flloyd
- Minneapolis, MN
Stand your ground in the Travon Martin case. Do we have that here?
A Conversation with Dai Black Lives Matter Organizer (Tri Cites, WA)
Today Reka and Dai (Organizer) discussed. What Black Lives matter means to them. Why are they protesting? And what can black people and our allies be doing now to bring change?
A Conversation with Pastor Marlando (Sozo Church)
What would Jesus want us to do right now? Is Race mentioned in the bible? What about protesting... what would Jesus think about it and MLK Jr.? Am I allowed to un-friend people?
What is the Race Conversations? (Intro)
This is my moment to share since I'm no longer living in fear of 'they' are sick of hearing it' or 'I'll get fired'. The conversations I've had/am having (now) with my owner and my boss has given me the room to SPEAK on what’s important to me FINALLY!
For 7 years this city (Tri Cities, WA) has NEVER heard this side of me (Reka). Racism is a HUGE issue and I finally get to use my platform to bring change on a local level!
Its actually really funny... I'm GOING THROUGH IT but very HOPEFUL at the same time.
I'm scared but don't GIVE A F*...... at the same time.
All this racism that some of you are just now being woke to (which I'm happy about) understand that this has been OUR (Black folks) life for over 400 years. It's traumatizing. I'm traumatized, the images,... I'm reading more, engaging in more conversations. I'm TRAUMATIZED and it's bringing up a tad bit of fear.
However I won't let that stop me. I'm hear to learn from the experts I'll have on my show and I hope you are too.
“the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.” - MLK Jr. (Change takes a long time, but it does happen.)
"eternal vigilance is the price of liberty," - James Jackson was a member of first Continental Congress and was in the US Senate in early 1790s.
A Conversation with Tracci Dial (KNDU) about COVID and Racism
Are we still on lock down when it comes to COVID? And let's talk race. Reka, James and Tracci Dial discuss the two biggest things going on in our country right now... on a local level!
