Staying Conscious with Meg & Aly

By Meg & Aly

Hi we are Meg and Aly. We are two friends that have recently discovered our voice. By having conscious conversations with each other, we have created a space where we feel seen, heard and enough. In sharing this space with others, we began connecting on the universal messiness of life. We found ourselves being inspired by the experiences and perspectives of the people in our daily lives. We invite you to join us in these vulnerable conversations as we host our very own podcast! We encourage you to listen and remain receptive to expanding your mind. Stay conscious and curious.

Kit Yoon - Relearning to Trust Yourself & Find Your Intuition

We are so excited to be back this week with another amazing guest! Today we are chatting with Kit Yoon, a holistic health coach &  life coach who has a very wide background in Chinese Medicine, intuitive eating, hypnotism, and inner voice facilitating. Kit walks us through her journey of coming from California and starting her own acupuncture practice and transitioning more into life coaching and now moving into more intuitive work through inner voice work. We discuss learning to live in the now and how it is a practice that we can develop overtime. We talk about how it's all really a relearning process on how to trust ourselves and listen to our own intuition, because we were naturally born with these instincts. Kit tells us about what she's currently up to and the new practices she is learning and how her work has shifted over the past couple months.  We hope you love this episode as much as we did!

"We choose how we want to spend time in this thing called life."

"I want to keep connecting with people the way I wasn't connecting with people."

Sam Vander Wielen - Creativity, Connection, & New Perspectives

Today we are chatting with the most lovely human, Sam Vander Wielen an attorney-turned-entrepreneur  who helps creatives and other entrepreneurs legally protect their own businesses. We loved this conversation with Sam as we talk about how our lives have changed over the past month during the pandemic and what we hope continues in the future and what we hope does not. Sam tells us about how her career has shifted, how this legal business kind of found her, and how she had to change her perspective around starting her business. She shares about not making your passion your business and how listening to people can help you create your business of service. We discuss how sometimes out of necessity comes invention and how this time has forced a lot of businesses to shift and evolve the way they operate and how it's actually been a pretty cool transition to witness. We also chat a lot about food and finding ways to be more mindful about waste and getting creative with recipes due to limited ingredients. We end the conversation discussing the importance of investing into your community and the relationships you already have in place. We hope you enjoy!

Brandon Goodyear - Visual Storytelling, Empathy, & Community

This week we are excited to bring you Brandon Goodyear, a local Columbus photographer, videographer, and  visual storyteller. Brandon has taken all of the photos for us here at The Staying Conscious Podcast and he takes the photos for The Space where Alyson teaches yoga and posts a lot of these photos on her own instagram. He is incredibly talented and we have loved to see how he has grown and evolved over the last year! In this episode, we discuss how this current pandemic has closed some doors temporarily, but opened others doors as well. We talk about slowing down, navigating uncertainty, and finding empathy for ourselves and others. We have loved seeing the community of Columbus, Ohio ban together and support each other during these crazy uncertain times. Brandon tells us about who inspires him and how he hopes to inspire others to create honest raw relationships, especially in the business world. We loved this conversation with Brandon and find him to be one of the most kind and genuine humans, we hope you enjoy this episode!

Nikki Costa Lang - Coming Back to Center, Katonah Yoga & That Ron Swansan Life

This week we are bringing you a super special guest, our very good friend, Nikki Costa Lang. Nikki is the founder of The Ultra Dose, where she has an online membership program called the Digital Dose, and she is a yoga teacher who specializes in private therapeutic sessions. We both met Nikki through our yoga studio called The Space, right here in Columbus, Ohio. Although Nikki is located in the Cleveland/Akron area, she is a frequent visitor to the Columbus area. We loved this episode with Nikki so much as she talks about how her business has been shifting and evolving during these times of quarantine and lockdown. We discuss how she has been off of social media and how that has been allowing her to go deeper and get to the root of things that she may have otherwise been avoiding. We discuss current practices and rituals that allow us to stay centered during this uncertain time of the global pandemic. Nikki shares with us how finding Katonah Yoga has seeped into all areas of her life and allowed her to show up more consistently for herself and others. We adore Nikki so much and we are so thankful for this opportunity for her to share so much of her wisdom and her vulnerability with us! We hope you enjoy this episode as much as we did!

The Why Behind Meg & Aly with Guest Host Josie Schweitzer

Today we bring you a very special episode where you have the opportunity to see behind the scenes of your hosts Meg & Aly. Previous podcast guest, Josie Schweitzer (aka mom), sits down with us at The Space to chat with us about our why behind starting the podcast with hopes that you, our listeners, could gain some insight into our lives and connect with us on a deeper level. We’re so honored to have Josie interview us and we are really excited to share this episode with you. We discuss everything from how the podcast came to be, choosing the name, our why for continuing to show up, and most importantly, how this podcast relates to “the practice.” We recorded this episode before the pandemic that is currently happening, but we felt this episode could not have come at a better time. We hope that this episode helps you to reconnect with your own why and helps you find some hope during these uncertain times. We are so grateful for all of you, thanks for listening!

Kym Lisk - Mindfulness, Self-Discovery, & Releasing Expectations to Find Sensory Relief

Today we are chatting with Kym Lisk the owner of Ebb & Float, a local float spa here in downtown Columbus. If you’ve never been to Ebb & Float, it is an experience unlike any other and we cannot recommend it enough! Kym walks us through her journey of self-discovery and how she came to believe in herself and trust in all that she is capable of creating. We discuss how important mindfulness practices are and how floating is just like any other practice where you must release your expectations, because you are going to get the float experience you need, and not necessarily the float experience you desire. We also get into all the details about Ebb & Float and Kym explains everything from the infrared Sauna, types of float tanks, reasons to float, massage chairs, and all of the community events they host. Kym and her husband Rick have created a really special place and community in which they allow for anyone who is on their own journey to self-discovery to feel seen, heard, and connected to their community and themselves. We hope you enjoy this episode and conversation as much as we did!

Four reasons to float in a sensory relief tank at Ebb & Float:

  • stress relief and relaxation
  • pain management & physical recovery
  • improve cognitive function & creativity
  • exploring altered states of consciousness.

Favorite podcast quote - “In the absence of everything is where you find yourself”

Geri Peacock - Baked Goods, Overcoming Hardships and Curiosity

Today we are bringing you an episode that will fill you with hope, nostalgia, and joy. During these rough times, I think we could all use a little more of those things in our lives. Geri Peacock opened Cherbourg Bakery over 10 years ago during some hard times. She shares her story with us and all of the stages/phases she went through to get her business up and running. Cherbourg Bakery is a gluten free/nut free bakery, everything is made fresh daily, by-hand in small batches and following traditional recipes. You are going to love the recipe stories that Geri shares with us and probably be left salivating just like we were. Geri also tells us how the bakery got it’s name after a small port-town in France called Cherbourg. “A place of liberty, freedom, and where you can find peace and get to where they need to be and where they let everyone into their hearts and don’t get angry about it when they leave.” As soon as you walk into the Cherbourg bakery, you feel the nostalgia of being back in your grandma’s kitchen during a large family gathering. Geri has created a really special place that is warm and welcoming and completely safe for everyone with gluten and nut allergies. We end the conversation very light-hearted discussing self-care, travel, and wondering what the moon smells like. We hope that this episode leaves you with inspiration and joy. Please check out the show notes for ways that you can help support local businesses during this time.

Simi Botic - UNMEASURED - A Virtual Barre Movement Membership to Celebrate Your Body

SIMI IS BACK! We are so excited to bring you our first repeat guest, Simi Botic! Of course we could chat with Simi probably every week, but we have her back on the podcast  to chat about UNMEASURED, her new virtual barre movement membership! UNMEASURED is designed to help you celebrate your body, not try to "change" or "fix" your body. In this episode we discuss our own journeys with movement over the years and how we are so thankful that it has shifted and evolved to a place where we want our movement to be nourishing to our bodies, not punishing. Simi has created an incredibly special virtual space that allows us to do this from the comfort of our own homes and at our own time. If you have ever met Simi, or seen her on social media, you know that she has an incredibly kind and gentle presence and she brings this into her teachings to allow you to feel completely supported during these virtual classes.  If you are curious about what this membership includes, we discuss all of it in this episode from what the videos are like, what equipment you'll need, and also what inspired Simi to create UNMEASURED.  We absolutely loved this conversation and hope that it inspires you to celebrate your own body! Also if barre is not for you, but you're curious about making a mindset shift around movement, Simi has given us a link for her FREE 7-day Movement Mindset Challenge that you can check out below!

Dr. Hanisha Patel - Hormones, Gut Health, and Naturopathic Medicine

Dr. Hanisha Patel - Hormones, Gut Health, and Naturopathic Medicine

We had so much fun sitting down and chatting with Dr. Hanisha Patel this week on the podcast! Hanisha is a Naturopathic doctor practicing here in Columbus, Ohio with patients who have issues with hormonal imbalances, mental health, digestive issues, thyroid disorders, and other chronic diseases. Hanisha tells us about what it was like growing up in an Indian household with Ayurvedic practices and how this shaped her view of medicine from a young age. We discuss her own personal health journey and motivation behind going to medical school.

Today, Hanisha has her own practice called Mahan Health where she meets clients right where they are to develop a path to optimal health and well-being. We discuss how there is so much “health” information out there and how easy it is for people to go to the extremes when it comes to health due to a fear of harming our bodies. By meeting the client where they are, Hanisha can help to make slow changes to avoid living in the extremes when beginning to make changes. We discuss how stress, especially the stress of trying to live “perfectly” when it comes to diet, exercise, supplements, is more harmful to your body than what you’re consuming. We both have our own personal journey with birth control and balancing our hormones, so we geek out on hormones, cycles, and really getting to know our bodies after transitioning off the pill. The conversation ends by chatting about the future of medicine, western and eastern, and what Hanisha is excited about for the future of her own practice!

We really loved this episode and Dr. Hanisha Patel is an absolute wealth of knowledge so we hope you learn so much from this episode! If you enjoyed this episode or think you know someone who would, please share it with them and tag us on social media!

Diana Wang - Fine Feather, Clean Beauty and Wellness

Diana Wang - Fine Feather, Clean Beauty and Wellness

This week we are chatting with Diana, the owner of a local clean beauty store called Fine Feather right here in Grandview, Ohio. Fine Feather is the only exclusively clean beauty and wellness store here in Ohio. In this episode, Diana defines what clean beauty is to her and tells us her story and background for why she wanted to start Fine Feather. We discuss how important it is to bring the community together over shared interests, passions, and learning new things and how Fine Feather does that by hosting a variety of wellness classes right there in the store. We talk about how the FDA doesn’t really regulate beauty products and how easy it is to buy toxic products without knowing it. With that being said, it Is important to educate ourselves on what products we are using on a daily basis, but also it’s ok to go slow when transitioning into clean beauty and wellness. Diana also gives us her top three products she would recommend switching! Fine Feather also does beauty consultations with Diana and Correna who will help you create a make up routine that is skin forward and focuses on enhancing the natural beauty of your own skin. We absolutely loved this episode and we are so thankful for all of Diana’s knowledge, hard work, and effort to create such a wonderful space for clean beauty and community right here in Columbus!

Tony Tanner - Local Farmers, Clean Meat, and Conscious Consumerism with The Butcher & Grocer

We cannot wait to share all of the fun that we had with this week on the podcast with Tony Tanner. Tony is the owner of The Butcher & Grocer, a local butcher shop where you will find the highest quality Ohio meats that are 100% pastured and are antibiotic and growth hormone-free. Tony tells us what motivated him to start the shop and why he has continued on this conscious journey for clean meat products. We could not agree more about the importance of knowing what goes into your food and caring about what you’re putting into your body. We discuss the future plans for a production facility so that they can expand to more local restaurants and businesses. Tony has a great analogy for justifying the cost of their products and makes us really think about what we are willing to spend our money on. We really just admire Tony and his vision for creating partnerships with hard working local farmers to feed local Ohioans well.If you'd like to support the podcast, the best thing you can do is share it with a friend! James Fryer - Mindful Movement, Massage, and Breathwork

This week we are so excited to be chatting with James Fryer on the podcast as he has a wealth of knowledge about the human body. He is a Licensed Massage Therapist and performance therapist who has a very holistic approach to health. He defines his work as blending movement and massage as a way to help restore your health. We loved chatting with James about how important it is for people to be in tune with their body, have better body awareness, and a willingness to learn about their own bodies. He explains how Diverge and The Human Form work separately, but often times together to help clients better reach their goals with one-on-one sessions and with small group classes. James explains that people will often tell you what happened and what is going on with their body if you listen and ask the right questions. We discuss breath work and how powerfully healing it can be to calm your nervous system, your anxiety, and help you function better in your day to day life. You can tell how passionate James is about his clients and how excited he is to learn more about the human body everyday, but we finally get him to tell us a little about how he takes care of himself and how he didn’t know how much he enjoyed being creative until after he was able to be creative in his own way. We end the conversation with what James is excited for the future which includes adding in more educational classes and more time with his clients to allow for them to learn about their bodies in a more efficient way. We hope you learn as much a we did in this episode!

Dr. Prashant Malhotra - Cochlear Implants, Passion for Medicine, and Conscious Parenting

On this weeks episode we are chatting with Dr. Prashant Malhotra, an Otolaryngologist with a special interest in improving hearing. In this conversation he tells us why he got into medicine and explains why he is so passionate about hearing and the impact that improved hearing can have on a persons life. He specializes in pediatrics, but we also discuss hearing loss in adults. We talk about the stigma in adults with hearing loss and how scary it can be and in turn can cause social isolation, embarrassment, and withdrawing. We were surprised to find out that there are more adult candidates for cochlear implants now due to surgical advances and technology. We discuss what to look for in children with hearing loss and about how impactful the universal newborn hearing screenings have been to discover hearing loss now at ages 2-3 months instead of 2-3 years of age! Discovering pediatric hearing loss early can prevent developmental delays and can change a child’s whole life trajectory so it is so important to have testing done as soon as possible.

Dr. Malhotra goes on to tell us how he met his wife (who is also a physician), how they navigated residency, and how they have been conscious about raising their two children. He discusses what it was like for him to resist the urge to become a doctor due to stereotypes and how he wants to foster individualism in his own children. Teaching them to live for themselves and their own unique dreams. We were so inspired by his values that he desires to instill in his children and how he and his wife show up willingly for each other to set great examples for their children. Make sure you listen all the way to the end to hear our full twenty minute conversation on cheese. Yup, that’s right, twenty minutes on cheese!

Human Design with Amy Lee

Human Design with Amy Lee

Due to a high influx of requests, we could not be more excited to bring you Amy Lee, a Human Design/Gene Keys analyst and guide. Human design is a tool that provides us with a way to understand ourselves better, so that we can have a better sense of belonging. It is a system that synthesizes astrology, the I Ching, the Kabbalah and the Hindu-Brahmin Chakra systems with current scientific knowledge in the fields of Physics, Astronomy, Genetics and Biochemistry. In this episode, we dive deep into what human design is and how it relates to relationships.

Amy describes the four different types of designs in depth. The types are Generator, Manifestor, Projector, and Reflector. Prior to this episode, we both had human design readings done with Amy. Amy and Megan are both Mental Projectors and Alyson is an Emotional Generator. Your type tells you about how your energy works, it is the doorway to self discovery. We go on to discuss open vs closed centers, strategy, split vs single definition, and authority types. Amy touches on how over half of the population has an emotional authority and just what that means. We discuss relationships and how as business partners and best friends, we have vastly different charts and how that may be why we feel so connected. We also touch on how different drugs or substances can affect different design types.

We find all of this information so fascinating and have loved diving in deeper with Amy. Her advice and ours is the same - TAKE IT SLOW. Find out what it means to have your type, strategy, and authority, and play it from there. Just see how knowing that information and playing with it, either affirms what you already know to be true or not. We hope you love this episode and have learned something new. Once you know your design, you’ll want to know everyone around you, so have fun and play with it! If you are interested in knowing more Amy has some upcoming events that are linked below!

Mission Coffee Company's Christian Ott

Mission Coffee Company's Christian Ott

Curious about coffee? We are too and that’s why this week on the podcast we interviewed Christian Ott, the Director of Roasting Operations at Mission Coffee Company here in Columbus, Ohio. The coffee scene in Columbus has grown a lot over the last five years and over that time we have grown to really be curious about the coffee we are drinking. Where it comes from, what flavor notes you can taste in different roasts, how it’s roasted, how different brewing methods make the same coffee beans taste slightly or even vastly different, the questions are endless for us. That’s why we were so excited to chat with Christian to get some of our questions finally answered! We geeked out so much during this episode as Christian answers all our questions from not putting your coffee beans/grounds in the fridge to the science behind milk alternatives in your lattes. Christian really inspires us with his story about why he moved here from Wisconsin specifically to work for Mission Coffee Company. We discuss the values and vision for Mission from sourcing to education. You are not going to want to miss this episode!

Tobi Ewing - Passion, Intuition, and Diving into the Unknown

Tobi Ewing - Passion, Intuition, and Diving into the Unknown

We are so excited to bring you this weeks guest, Tobi Ewing! We met Tobi at The Wonder Jam and we knew the moment we met her that we HAD to interview her! Tobi is the office manager at The Wonder Jam and she started her own line of products called Beyond The Clouds where she sells essential oil blends, wellness blends, artwork, and more.

In the episode, Tobi tells us about not being fulfilled in the corporate world and how she dove into the unknown to search for passion in her work and the lifestyle she desired. Tobi inspired us as she tells us about how she handles her internal fears as she transitioned her career path and gained confidence in her skills as an entrepreneur. She describes a studio mindset vs a factory mindset and how important it is for all of us to have the skills of negotiating, networking, knowing how to sell yourself, knowing what your skills are, and having vision. We also discuss how it can be easy to put all our energy into things we don’t really love because there is no risk in it, if it fails it’s not really that big of a deal because it wasn’t really our life’s work. But when it comes to the real vulnerability of putting out the work that you are really passionate about, it can be really scary and we often avoid it without even being conscious of what we are doing.
We discuss how to tell the difference between feelings, that are temporary and reactionary, and intuition that comes from experience and wisdom. The conversation ends with Tobi sharing with us who inspires her and what she hopes to inspire in others. We laughed a ton and hope you do as well!

Nicole Davis - The Journey of Co-Founding Native Cold Pressed and The Joy of Embracing the Unexpected

Nicole Davis - The Journey of Co-Founding Native Cold Pressed and The Joy of Embracing the Unexpected

This week we are chatting with the lovely Nicole Davis, co-founder of Native Cold Pressed in Columbus, Ohio. We absolutely adore Nicole and loved this conversation. In this episode, we chat about how Native got started through Nicole’s journey of yoga, an eating disorder, traveling to Thailand, nutrition, juice, manifestation, and her faith in God. Nicole tells us about how she found a home in Columbus and why she decided to stay instead of trying to start a health food store in an oversaturated area like California. She tells us about meeting her business partner Erin and how they both had a vision for opening up a health food store in the Short North. We talk about the challenges of opening up a business, especially opening two shops in one year. Nicole describes her vision for Native as a “home away from home” for health and nutrition and they hope that you feel better walking out, than you did when you walked in.

We of course chat about marriage and she tells us about the whirlwind experience of meeting her husband and starting a family. We end this conversation talking about her new venture with Doterra essential oils and how creating daily practices and rituals can transform your life. Also, we remembered a very important question we wanted to ask Nicole after we had stopped recording, so make sure you listen all the way to the end, past the outro to hear her answer!

Dr. Brandon Kozar - Corporate Psychologist, Leadership Strategies, and the Ripple Effect

Dr. Brandon Kozar - Corporate Psychologist, Leadership Strategies, and the Ripple Effect

Happy New Year!! We are so excited to bring you our first guest of 2020 on New Year's Day! Dr. Brandon Kozar is a licensed clinical psychologist, who defines himself as a hybrid physiologist as he now primarily functions as a corporate physiologist, is the director of the Leadership Coaching & Development Program and the You Matter Program at Nationwide Children's Hospital, and still provides executive coaching and clinical psychotherapy in his own practice as well. In this episode, we discuss how he works with teams, leaders, and physicians to help them set up the environmental conditions to set them up for success. We discuss his analogy of how being the best widget maker doesn't give you the tools to lead and manage all the other widget makers , so that's where he comes in to provide leadership strategies and skills to become a better leader. He prides himself on providing content that allows others to walk away from his talks or sessions with tangible actions and how his work with leaders creates a ripple effect and allows so many others to benefit from these practical tools. Dr. Kozar tells us about his experience of being in the back of a cop car as a teenager and how that moment changed the trajectory of his life. We discuss mindset and how important it is to create habits that allow you to respond to struggle and adversity in a way that pushes you to grow. "It doesn't matter what happens to you, it matters how you respond." We end the discussion chatting about our favorite topic - relationships! Make sure you listen to the end, because he shares with us the best relationship advice he has ever received. We absolutely loved this episode and cannot wait for you to listen!

Business & Marriage with Allie and Adam Lehman from The Wonder Jam

Business & Marriage with Allie and Adam Lehman from The Wonder Jam

SEASON ONE FINALE! We LOVED this episode so much and we could not have picked a better couple to be our final episode for this first season of our podcast! Allie and Adam Lehman are the co-owners of The Wonder Jam, a marketing company here in Columbus, Ohio that specializes in local business. We jammed about everything from business to marriage, and all the goodies in-between. We touch on the topics of codependency, owning a business with a partner/spouse, being kind, planning time apart, and therapy. Allie and Adam tells us who inspires them, but we also discuss the importance of not putting other people on pedestals and how we should see what exactly inspires us about this person and try to incorporate that value or characteristic into our practice, but not try to morph into this person who inspires us. We loved the business advice that at some point you have to stop “doing homework” and actually start putting things out and how it’s easy to just get distracted by just busying yourself the homework. We end the conversation discussing one of the topics from our favorite podcaster, Dax Shepard from The Armchair Expert. Dax often says that he “got all the things” he thought he wanted, but still wasn’t happy. We discuss that you have to decide your own definition of success and you have to do the work on yourself to be happy in yourself or nothing is going fulfill you.

We so hope you enjoy this episode as much as we did and we will see you all again in season 2 coming to you January 2020!

Alexis Joseph - Hummusapien, Intuitive Eating, Running a Business, and Exciting Future Plans

This week we have an amazing guest, Alexis Joseph, the founder of the blog Hummusapien and the co-founder of Alchemy Juice Cafe and Kitchen. We loved this conversation so much and love how transparent Alexis is around her challenges and struggles throughout her career. We discuss hard work, hustling, learning how to be a business owner, and also the not so glamorous part of owning a business/restaurant. We also talk about how her vision for both the blog and the restaurant has shifted over the years and how they want to promote a no judgement zone around food and being conscious of the language they use around food. All three of us jam on intuitive eating and how it has changed our lives and allowed us to become more intuitive in all areas of our lives and not just around eating. We discuss the importance of getting help if you are struggling with orthorexia or any other type of eating disorder or body image struggle. Speaking of getting help…we all talk about how much our friend Simi Botic inspires us so much and how we want everyone to go follow her!! But seriously, if you don’t follow her yet, go do that! ha! We end our convo talking about relationships and how she and Jeff are intentional about showing up in their relationship with each other. Role Model Parents, Fashion, and Working Out with Roo Cotter

So sorry for the hiatus, but we are back and so excited to bring you today's guest Roo Cotter! Roo is a personal trainer here in Columbus, Ohio, who quit her finance/accounting job in Chicago and is now pursuing her passion for helping others live a healthy lifestyle. This conversation was so much fun and we had so many laughs with Roo, just sipping coffee on a lovely Sunday morning like old friends. We chat about her childhood, her family, and the lessons she’s learned from her parents on all things life from finances to relationships. Roo talks about her transition out of the corporate world and becoming an entrepreneur and gives us advice on following your passion. Make sure you listen to the end on this one, because our absolute favorite part about this conversation was the last bit, when we discuss how even though your career field/industry may feel over saturated at times, there is always need for this work because every person has their own unique self to bring to the table. One person cannot heal the entire world, and it’s not a competition out there! Roo shares the term “collaboration over competition” and we could not love it more! Also make sure to follow Roo over on instagram for inspiration on not only workouts, but also great nutrition tips, recipes, and fashion!

This week we are so excited to bring you our dear friend Simi Botic. Simi is a health coach who helps women embrace their beautifully imperfect lives through intuitive eating and intuitive movement. This was such a special episode for us because both of us have worked with Simi and can equally say that our work with her changed our lives and our relationships with food, our bodies, and movement forever! We are incredibly thankful for her work and her approach to health coaching. In this episode, Simi discusses overcoming perfectionism and how she realized that she didn’t have a problem with food and body image, but rather that she was struggling with finding her own self worth. We talk about asking for help, not needing to be an expert at everything, unrealistic expectations, and finding compassion and curiosity when navigating hardships. We end the conversation talking about creativity and how both of her pregnancies have driven her to create new and exciting things in her business. Her first pregnancy with her son Osh, lead to her book, “Letting Go of Leo,” and we are so excited for what her current pregnancy will bring for the future of her business! Josie is the owner of The Space, a yoga studio recently opened in Columbus, Ohio that teaches a blend of Vinyasa and Katonah yoga, along with breathing and meditation techniques. In this episode, Josie tells how she transitioned from her career in hair to her career in yoga after her first 200 hour teacher training in Costa Rica and how showing up and do the doing, (even when you don’t feel like it) played a key role in her transition. We discuss listening to your intuition, knowing when it’s time move on, grow, and expand, taking care of yourself, and setting boundaries. Josie also shares with us how being an empath and truly caring to hear others stories has been a huge part of her work and how it’s helped her to connect on the level she does with her community. During this conversation you’ll come to find out that this episode is so special because I was actually in Josie’s 200 hour yoga teacher training at the time we recorded.
