Bladder leakage or urinary incontinence is not something that you just have to learn to live with. It can improve, even resolve completely! On today's episode, Dr. Elizabeth gives an overview of some of the interventions (or treatments) that can help!
Peeing Your Pants!!!!
Today’s episode is all about peeing your pants. It happens more than you think, it is indeed pretty common amongst women. The current statistic is that 1 in 2 women actually suffer from some type of urinary incontinence. Yikes! We have got to change that statistic! And that starts with you (& us!).

On today's episode, we are talking about the proper way to actually pee. Once we are potty trained as a child, we usually never revisit the right ways to engage our bodies as we pee. Tune in for the latest episode of our 'Strong As A Mother' Podcast as we hear from Dr. Jessica Obeysekare and Dr. Neha Hudepohl. They are both reproductive psychologists in the Upstate, helping to take care of women's mental health needs at the time of reproductive transition.
Have you ever heard of reproductive psychology?
The majority of the field focuses on prenatal and postpartum care. Helping women with the transition into motherhood, as well as those battling infertility and/or pregnancy loss.
Both Dr. Obeysekare and Dr. Hudepohl are passionate about helping women overcome the moderate to severe symptoms of Anxiety and OCD that may accompany pregnancy and postpartum. Their goal is to spread awareness that there is help for these kinds of situations and life challenges and allow themselves to experience the beauty of motherhood. Society has painted a picture of what new moms and parenthood are expected to look like, which can both internally and externally affect a women's view of motherhood.
Beginning with an evaluation, they can dive into understanding and identifying one's particular symptoms, moderate to severe, and tailor their services to each individual woman, to begin treatment. Within their treatment, they preach self-care and helping women to understand that sleep needs to be a priority. Every new mother has experienced the overwhelming feelings of transitioning into parenthood and sleepless nights.
These two women are changing the world and how we overcome pregnancy and postpartum mental difficulties during this transitional period of life. There is help out there.

16: Genesis Birth and Wellness - Bethany Arrington
Tune in with us for the latest episode of our 'Strong As A Mother' podcast as we are joined by Bethany Arrington of Genesis Birth and Wellness. Bethany is the first African American woman to offer home birth and a birth center in the Upstate. She is a Certified Nurse Midwife with over 15 years of experience working with mamas and women's health. She began her journey as a labor and delivery nurse but made her way into Midwifery Care, with 10 years' experience in the field today. During her career, she has delivered 700 babies!! Now THAT is impressive. Bethany touches on the importance of the relationship between mama and midwife, and how to choose the right midwife for you. She shares her first birth experience with us and also gives some tips on how to avoid the 'fear of birth.' For so many women, the anxiety of their delivery follows them throughout their pregnancy, but Bethany recommends research be done in advance to help comfort the new mom. Along with prenatal care and delivery, she also provides an array of women's health services.
