Where Is She Now? With Alicia Journey
FU interview
On Air Coaching with Alicia Journey: Making Pivots in Your Biz, Taking Action and the Wonderful Identity Crisis
I met Alicia at a speaking event I did at the beginning of this year. She was incredible to speak with. We both love talking about nerdy things like the brain and she's a gentle power house. She's an attorney who's worked on the Supreme Court, she started a non-profit called Beyond the Bruises and she has a long list of amazing accolades, but what's most impressive is her compassion for others.
At the time of this interview Alicia was at a crossroads trying to figure out which direction she needed to go and being Alicia, she let me share this coaching session in my closed FB group, Obsessed With Success, and now here on the podcast because she wants you to learn from her experiences. Next week you'll hear the follow up interview where we follow up with Alicia to see where she's at now. (Spoiler Alert - she's found her footing and is taking off! I'd love to say it's my coaching...so I will. JUST KIDDING! It's really about the person being coached and next week's episode will show you what can happen when you do the work!)
In today's episode we discuss:
- making pivots in business and life
- the biggest misconception we have about your ideal avatar
- taking action before you're ready

Is Your Tribe Hurting or Helping You?
I am surrounded by amazing people in my business and personal life so it boggles my mind when I see amazing people with a not so amazing tribe. This isn't a podcast on ditching all of your friends, but it's meant to help you evaluate the limitations those friendships, peer groups, your tribe may have and/or what skills you may lack. As I said, I've been there. That's the only reason I can have this conversation with you. I've been the victim of my own selfishness when it comes to friendships and regret. Hopefully this episode will help you skip that pain and become a kickass friend. Or maybe you are amazing and you need someone to point out how much you bring to the table and why you deserve better.
If you want to live a life of success and have a thriving business you'll need a good tribe of people surrounding you. This episode is dedicated to helping you create that tribe and be that person for others.
The 4 Things To Consider:- Are you doing everything you can to help yourself first?
- Check your intentions at the door.
- Are you afraid to ask your tribe for help and why?
- Does your tribe share the same values as you or have the values you are striving for?

Where Do I Start? 5 Foundational Pieces To Build Your Business
I spent YEARS combing through all the methods. I watched DIY videos and paid courses trying to figure out the method to the madness. It was only through trial and a heck of a lot of error that I finally realized what I was missing and what was actually necessary. These are the 5 pieces that inform every single thing in your business. They are the simplest and hardest pieces. What does that mean? It means that they seem like very easy questions and yet all you perfectionists will probably get stuck here. I did. Who was my perfect client, what is my perfect offer??? You can see the rabbit hole, right?
Let me save you some time. Remember that where you start isn't where you will finish and the only way to really arrive at the "perfect" answer is by doing the work. Start serving your clients, start failing and start getting results for your clients. This will help you refine your answers to these 5 foundational pieces. For the record, your answers will change with time and that's 100% okay. That's how it should be as you continue to learn and grow.
Here are the 5 questions. Don't forget to listen in for the details.
- What is your mission (not to be confused with your mission statement)?
- How do you serve your client?
- Who do you serve?
- Why do you serve them (typically has to do with your story)?
- How do you want them to feel? (Crucial piece to how and what you create)

It's Time For A RESET: Get off the hamster wheel of stress
It's a great time for a RESET. Actually, any time right before a busy season hits is a great time. Why? Because it's easy to get overwhelmed and lost in the chaos. If you RESET yourself before the avalanche of stress hits, you'll have a much better chance of making it out a sane person. This episode is dedicated to those of you who need a reset and want to finally get those goals off of repeat. You know what I mean...New Year or a new season comes and we set a goal, then the next season comes and we're setting the exact same goal because, well, we didn't hit that goal. And then 20 years later we're setting the SAME DANG GOAL!!! My life in a nutshell.
Well, let's get off the hamster wheel of stress and broken goals. I'm going to share with you my R.E.S.E.T technique. Don't wait till you're crying in a corner sucking your thumb. Now is the time to stop that cycle before it starts. xoxo.

29 The 3 Things You NEED to Build a Successful Business
Today I'm sharing a training I did in my closed Facebook group, Obsessed With Success. I'm sharing it because I think it's important to understand what it will actually take to build a successful business (and life for that matter) and to show you what's happening in the group. Ladies, we'd love to have you in there with us as we rally together to build a life we love and a business we're obsessed with (in a healthy way). It's a group where we support one another and challenge each other.

28 Are You Confusing The Symptom For The Obstacle?
Does it ever feel like you're solving the same problem over and over again? If so, this episode is for you. I love to share concepts and strategies that help me further my business, life and mindset and this is one of those. I read this book that completely changed the way I assess problems in my business. I've always been a huge proponent for CEO days (days where you work ON your business rather than IN it), but this book has up-leveled the time I spend working on my business and I had to share this with you.
I'll take you through a business problem and a life problem using this concept so you can apply it in any area of your life. For more information about this episode check out the show notes here.

27 How Many Times Is Too Many Times To Try?
We try and we try and we try and then we get to our breaking point. Hands in the air, we give up. But why do we break? Do we break because we no longer think it's possible? Do we break because we're too tired? Do we break because we just don't want to keep going? In today's mini-episode I talk about my experience and how our mindset can get in the way of our success. It's a short episode and so full of fire.
I want success for you - do you want it enough for yourself?
We talk about the #75hardchallenge and you can find those details here in my IG stories. For the show notes go here.

26 Stephanie Blake on Side Hustling to Success and Organizing Your Business
Ooooh, do we have a treat for you. I recently got to sit down with Stephanie Blake of the Biz Babe Collective and talk to her about her journey from corporate to boss She is very honest as she shares:
- her many failed attempts at the side hustle thing before she finally got it right
- what having a baby has meant for her business and
- the biggest mistake she sees entrepreneurs making when they try to organize and streamline their business
We talk about all the things and we laughed so much that I actually had to edit it out or else the episode would've been an extra 10 minutes!! That's how much fun I had sitting with Stephanie and I know you'll enjoy it too.
Stephanie has been gracious and is offering 20% to my podcast listeners and a free masterclass. For the details go to the show notes here.

25 Suicide and Self Care
It's a difficult conversation to have, but I think we need to have it. As women we put ourselves on the back burner a lot and as entrepreneurs we are often isolated. Both of these can lead to depression, addiction and some times, suicide. Today we dive into suicide - my personal experience and thoughts on it. If you are not in the right place to be listening to this, please listen to a different episode. Also, if any of this offends you - it's not meant to. It's meant to give you hope and open up the dialogue we're having around this issue.
Please go here for all the resources and references I mention in this episode. Also: National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1–800–273–TALK (8255), or text the Crisis Text Line (text HOME to 741741) available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals can contact the Lifeline via TTY at 1–800–799–4889. All calls are confidential. This service is available to everyone. People—even strangers—have saved lives by being vigilant.
*Please note that I am not an expert on this topic or doctor. I am simply sharing my story and experience of this subject matter. If you need help, please seek professional help. I've listed the number for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline above, but there are other resources available to you. Don't hesitate to get the help you need.

Have you ever had a dream, but didn't know what to do so you put it on the shelf...at the very back of the shelf? Our guest, Laurie Wright, did the same thing. Now, her books are an amazon best seller, selling 100 copies a day. And this teacher turned stay-at-home mom turned author is now the breadwinner.
