Survivor Stories

By Survivor Stories

Hello and welcome, My name is Jacob Little, and I thought I would start a podcast for survivors. When I say survivors, I mean survivors of child abuse, institutional child abuse, survivors of addiction, survivors of the prison system and survivors of domestic violence. Been a survivor of abuse and having lived experience of the prison system. I thought I would start this safe space so all survivors can listen and tune in. I hope people can relate to Survivor Stories, and we can work together to create a safer place for children and survivors. If you would like to tell your story, hit me up.

Survivor Stories: Richard Brooking

Survivor Stories: Richard Brooking

My name is Jacob Little and I created this podcast as a safe space for survivors. I have dedicated my life to supporting and advocating for survivors.
When I say survivors, I am talking about survivors of child abuse, institutional child abuse, survivors of addiction, survivors of the prison system and survivors of domestic violence.
-
I am survivor of abuse, with a lived experience of the prison system, intergenerational trauma and I also know firsthand what it's like to lose a parent to the system.
-
I have also learned to thrive and am grateful everyday to be in a position to support others who have lived, or are living, through the same things.
-
I love my life today. I stay out of trouble and understand why I ended up in that lifestyle.
I've reunited with my father who I lost when I was 10 to the system and I've overcome addiction. I train everyday, I take care of my health and I'm working daily to see change in the world.
-
I started this podcast after being humbled and inspired by many other survivor stories and hearing how people have found healing, justice and peace after what they lived through.
-
This is a safe and supportive space for survivors and those that support them.
-
Listen, speak up, tune in. - -

Season 2- Episode 2: Gladstone

This week we bring you episode 2 of our second season. It’s short and sweet, but I explain my travels through Gladstone and some of the special people I met along the way (see an amazing piece of artwork by a young fella I met with on our social media). I also chat briefly about connecting with clients who have been abused in a foster care setting, and what that can entail.

Stay tuned for our next ep!

Season 2- Episode 1: On the Road

This week we bring in the first episode to launch our 'Season 2'.

I talk about the first week of being on the road. This is an important part of my role at About Time for Justice, meeting with people and communities to share my story, in hopes to help other survivors come forward and share theirs.

I explain my travels through Harvey Bay, Maryborough and Bundaberg.

Stay tuned for more frequent episodes, we can't wait to share more of Season 2 with you all.

This survivor wanted her name to be withheld from the podcast. She is a real success story turning her life right around from the skills that she learnt in prison. This lady has been through it all. She is a survivor of abuse, drug addictions, DV, gang violence, drug trafficking and prison. She went from being a drug addict and trafficker to now holding down a full-time job.
