"The Accidental Swingers"
*Adult Content and Explicit Language Warning*"Taboo" topics, especially about sex and sexuality have peaked my curiosity for many years! In my past, I fled the idea of gaining understanding, NOT ANYMORE!  Myrina and Tristan, long time married couple in their 50's and hosts of the podcast The Accidental Swingers were SO gracious to come on and share about this lifestyle that so many judge and shame. I am crazy thankful for the freedom to just chat with them, gain understanding and enjoy the amazing humans that they are! Be sure to listen to this fun episode on your favorite podcast app TODAY!  Around two years ago, Myrina and Tristan, “Accidentally” fell into the swinging lifestyle and decided to share it with the world through their blog, social media and their podcast, "The Accidental Swingers" ! I know NOTHING about the lifestyle and am so thrilled Myrina and her husband Tristan were open to chatting with me and sharing some insight, fun and hilarious details and some eye opening understandings about taboos and myths surrounding the lifestyle! That's Not Proper can be found on all podcast platforms!! Please Subscribe, Share and Review!Email Cori : cori@thatsnotproper.com Looking to be a guest or have a great topic you'd love to hear me cover? Click the link below and fill out the form or forward it to someone you know who would be an amazing guest!https://www.thatsnotproper.com/be-on-the-podcast I’d love to connect with you here and on Instagram and Facebook! Claim Your Pleasure and Your Power
*Adult Content and Explicit Language Warning*Sexuality and sexual intimacy can evolve, especially as we get older. Communicating these changes and need can be incredibly difficult and vulnerable feeling. On this episode Sophia Wise One digs down deep with me. There were even moments where she so specifically hits the nail on the head that I felt some serious emotion. The very idea, for some of us of claiming your pleasure and power is so foreign that we don't even know where to begin. Sophia discusses being gentle and giving ourselves permission, crazy that we have to say it to one another, but yes, we have permission, to explore, renegotiate, communicate and claim our pleasure and power! Has this been something you have experienced, struggle with or wonder about? You aren't alone!Sophia is trained in over 20 different body work modalities including, licensed massaged therapy, reiki master teacher and holistic pelvic care. She has led thousands in healing ceremonies, group programs and personalized intensives. She has made it her mission to teach, help and encourage others to know and love their authentic selves and I am thrilled to have here to discuss personal growth, sexual revelations and renegotiations and claiming our pleasure and power especially for women who are nearing or like myself, deep into their 40's! Parents, Love Who You Love.
Being from an older generation is NOT an excuse to remain stagnant in our beliefs, mindset, understanding and language.  It does present some obstacles, but when your desire is to seek unity, love, growth and the betterment of those you love and our society, you WILL seek to grow, change and understand. On this week’s episode Punam Saxena, the host of the podcast edu-Me, joins me and shares, from a parent’s perspective, her journey when her son came out as gay. Punam shares their response, how they came together as a family (even family in India), she shares her errors, her concerns then, now and going forward.  We discuss the important of not judging based on character traits, we discuss the dehumanization of people and groups, biases and perceptions. We discuss SO MUCH!! She shares some insight for parents addressing similar issues as well.At one point, I even disagree with Punam!  (Eeeek) That's Not Proper can be found on all podcast platforms!! Please Subscribe, Share and Review!Email Cori : cori@thatsnotproper.comThat’s Not Proper Website: https://www.thatsnotproper.com Looking to be a guest or have a great topic you'd love to hear me cover? Click the link below and fill out the form or forward it to someone you know who would be an amazing guest!https://www.thatsnotproper.com/be-on-the-podcast I’d love to connect with you here and on Instagram and Facebook! Becoming an Ageless Athlete
Since I was young I’ve had a fascination with women’s roller derby. My love of sports that contained fast movement and intense physical contact only fueled that fascination. As I’ve gotten older, being athletic or even having fitness goals has become difficult and discouraging.  That is one reason why I am so excited for my guest today Robin Legat! She played competitive roller derby for 11 years, competes in Spartan races and is now on a mission as an athletic aging coach to help women over 40 gain confidence, feel ageless, and achieve bold fitness and athletic goals. As we get older, staying in good physical shape becomes incredibly difficult, discouraging and often we trick ourselves into believing it just isn't possible to be athletic. "Too old" "too time consuming" "not possible" are just a few things I know I have even told myself! Listen to this week's episode with Athletic Aging Coach, Robin LegatRobin didn't grow up athletic, not even a wee bit! She made a HUGE leap, stepped out of her comfort zone and joined a Roller Derby League! That started the ball rolling toward an adventure into becoming an athlete, an obstacle coach runner and a gym owner! Please listen to this week's episode and hear how Robin shares her journey AND gives tips and ideas for all of us heading into or over our 40's and that we truly CAN become a confident athlete, no matter where we are at in life!   That's Not Proper can be found on all podcast platforms!! People Over Politics
In 2017, in the small Bay Area city of Milpitas, CA, Karina Dominguez  ran her grassroots campaign for City Council. As a woman of color, single mother, labeled by some as the "Firecracker Lawmaker" and leading a grassroots campaign with a People Over Politics platform, Karina definitely caught my eye.  She has a genuine passion for her city and has made it clear she isn't just a politician, but an advocate for the people of Milpitas.  In this episode Karina shares with me her journey as a child of parents who were part of the Braceros Program, growing up in a barrio of San Jose called "Sal Si Puedes" and how her love of that community fueled her desire to passionately create change for the city and people she loves.  She candidly shares her struggles, concerns, and desires for advocacy for the people within Milpitas and her hope to create an open, trustworthy city government space for all of it's residents.Council Women Karina Dominguez Contact Info:votekarinadominguez.comCell: 669-228-1623FB: https://www.facebook.com/votekarinadominguezIG: https://www.instagram.com/vmkarinadominguez/Twitter: @voteKDominguezThat's Not Proper can be found on all podcast platforms!! Please Subscribe, Share and Review!Email Cori : cori@thatsnotproper.com Looking to be a guest or have a great topic you'd love to hear me cover? Click the link below and fill out the form or forward it to someone you know who would be an amazing guest!https://www.thatsnotproper.com/be-on-the-podcastThat's Not Proper Website:https://www.thatsnotproper.comThat's Not Proper Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/thatsnotproper/That's Not Proper Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/thatsnotproper I’d love to connect with you here and on Instagram and Facebook! End of Life Decisions, Aren't Just for the Elderly
When do we need to begin to consider end of life care for our loved ones?  For many of us we are long overdue.  Do we truly realize the importance of planning ahead as far as being a caregiver and one who needs care? These difficult thoughts questions and concerns must occur in order to have a smooth transition from what was to what is to come.  Liz Craven of Sage Aging, shares with me the importance of making so many of these decisions and having these conversations long before many of us realize.  As early as 18 years old! In addition, so many women are the ones who become responsible to the care of their elderly loved ones and the immense strain this puts on them mentally, physically and emotionally is often ignored and misunderstood.  Because of this the statistics for severe depression and substance abuse, due to this strain, among caregivers is enormous.  The absolute necessity for caregivers to receive the ability to self care, needs to be a priority.  AARP article regarding caregivers:https://www.aarp.org/content/dam/aarp/ppi/2020/05/full-report-caregiving-in-the-united-states.doi.10.26419-2Fppi.00103.001.pdfSage Aging Podcast and Website:https://polkeldercare.com/sage-aging-and-blog/Sage Aging on Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/sageaging/ That's Not Proper can be found on all podcast platforms and my website!! https://www.thatsnotproper.comLooking to be a guest or have a great topic you'd love to hear me cover? Click the link below and fill out the form or forward it to someone you know who would be an amazing guest!https://www.thatsnotproper.com/be-on-the-podcast I’d love to connect with you here and on Instagram and Facebook! That's Not Proper Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/thatsnotproper/That's Not Proper Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/thatsnotproper

Bridging the Gap Between Parents and the School System
On this week's episode Punam Saxena who has been a special education teacher,  spent many years as a perennial volunteer in all of her children's schools, has  a degree in psychology and over 20 years of advocacy experience, is the host of the podcast EDU ME and most recently has, according to her, “ gone from couch potato to marathon runner"Punam and I discuss how she began as a Special Education teacher and then when her children were born she decided to volunteer in their school systems.  She then saw the extreme need for a relationship and communication that needed to be established between the school system and the parents in order to better educate children. Along her journey she began to realize as her children grew older that her health could become a serious issue and literally went from "couch potato" drinking several cokes in one sitting, to a health conscious marathon runner.  She shares with me the confidence she found in running and sees how this confidence could also empower other women along their journey as mom, wives, partners and/or parents. The Edu-Me on Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/theedume/ The Edu-Me Website: https://www.edu-me.net/ The Edu-Me Podcast:  https://www.edu-me.net/episodes-1 That's Not Proper can be found on all podcast platforms!! Please Subscribe, Share and Review! Looking to be a guest or have a great topic you'd love to hear me cover? Click the link below and fill out the form or forward it to someone you know who would be an amazing guest!https://www.thatsnotproper.com/be-on-the-podcastThat's Not Proper Website:https://www.thatsnotproper.comThat's Not Proper Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/thatsnotproper/That's Not Proper Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/thatsnotproper I’d love to connect with you here and on Instagram and Facebook! The Plot Twist Is Fluidity
Being fluid is not something I would have ever considered several years ago. Even the word itself, beyond referring to a liquid was, essentially foreign to me.  I believe that I needed to be finite. That what I believed and who I was shouldn't change, that if I allowed the flow of change and fluidity in myself it meant I was a fraud, a hypocrite or a liar.  Once I began to understand what being fluid meant,  even in the painful transition, was freedom.  Like a plot twist in a movie, where it grabs you and you hang on to see the outcome, even when it's terrifying, the joy and the release keeps you reeled in.That's Not Proper can be found on all podcast platforms!! Please Subscribe, Share and Review! Looking to be a guest or have a great topic you'd love to hear me cover? Click the link below and fill out the form or forward it to someone you know who would be an amazing guest!https://www.thatsnotproper.com/be-on-the-podcast I’d love to connect with you here and on Instagram and Facebook! So, Covid Hit Home
On this week's episode I'm sharing our family's experience with Covid-19.  Having a very large family means that for things like illnesses and colds you may have to be more vigilant than others may realize.  Add to that two children who have autoimmune diseases and and elderly person, it can feel like a recipe for disaster.  My daughter was directly exposed to Covid-19, which in turn meant, we were all possibly infected.  It was terrifying.  Listen to this weeks episode and hear the mental and emotional struggle, as well as the lessons I learned and am still learning from it all. That's Not Proper can be found on all podcast platforms!!  Please Subscribe, Share and Review! Looking to be a guest or have a great topic you'd love to hear me cover? Click the link below and fill out the form or forward it to someone you know who would be an amazing guest!https://www.thatsnotproper.com/be-on-the-podcastThat's Not Proper Website:https://www.thatsnotproper.comThat's Not Proper Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/thatsnotproper/That's Not Proper Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/thatsnotproper

Is Your Positivity Toxic?
I’ve become super obsessed with the phrase “toxic positivity”. On this week’s episode I’m sharing what it is, what it isn’t, why it is so incredibly damaging and what we can do to recognize it and stop. You ever look into buying a car? So, you find what car you want, you buy it and then all of the sudden it seems like that car is all over the roads? You had never noticed the car before, but now you see it everywhere. One of my daughter’s had an older, little, silver Honda CRV and it was a great little car, loved that little car. Never before had I ever noticed an older, little, silver Honda CRV on the road. To this day, I see a couple every time I have to drive. Even just in town. Were they always there and I just never noticed? Did everyone run out and buy an older, little, silver Honda CRV? That’s what coming to an understanding of toxic positivity has become like for me recently. I see it everywhere. Now I’m on the hunt for it everywhere. Was it always there, or did it just all of the sudden appear, like the CRV? Obviously, it’s always been there. It’s a culture. It’s deeply embedded in everything. Don’t believe me? Start looking, pay attention, check yourself…I can promise, if you didn’t notice it before, you will now.

That was my experience growing up and when I first heard about RRT I was skeptical, but honestly curious.  To hear Matt and Kelly’s story of severe trauma and after years of therapy, in hospital stays, medication and more and no change no healing and then RRT comes along and within one session, Matt and Kelly’s life changed.   Follow me on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/thatsnotproperFollow me on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/thatsnotproperContact me, Cori, via email at cori@thatsnotproper.com Reclaiming Light Websitehttps://reclaiminglight.net/ Reclaiming Light Facebook Pagehttps://www.facebook.com/RRTreclaiminglight

My White Privilege
In this episode I will be primarily addressing white people and myself.  It shouldn't have to take the rapes, murders, harassment, abuse and vile hatred for over 400 years for anyone to get to this point, but here I am, here we are.  As I come to a greater understanding and spend time educating myself as well as reflecting on my thoughts, words, actions and how traditions and norms have affected those areas of my life, I encourage you to do the same.  None are free, unless all are free. I Survived A Cult
On this weeks episode Alesia Galati shares with me, for the first time publicly, her story and journey out of being raised in a cult.  Many of us assume the idea of a cult is more like a Manson story or a Jonestown story, but not all cults have the same publicity or view from the outside. Pain Free Pleasurable Sex and Your Pelvic Floor
In this episode I will be chatting with Dr. Lauren Crigler, PT, DPT. Dr. Lauren specializes in pelvic floor physical therapy, sexual wellness and intimacy coaching. As a mother of seven who struggled greatly with pain during and after pregnancy and childbirth I truly wish I would have know there were options other than prescription medications that only masked my pain. After pregnancy the experience of pain during sex and then not knowing that other options besides surgery existed would have been a life changer. Dr. Lauren discusses with me the common issues many women experience with regards to pain and how she is able to provide relief and healing. In addition, Dr. Lauren coaches women and even their partners on ways to experience once again pain free pleasurable sex and find ways to regain the desire for intimacy that many couples feel as though they have lost. Men Can Be Feminists Too
In today's episode I'm sitting down with "Stu".  My partner of over 25 years, father of three daughters and four sons and self proclaimed feminist. We start with some ice breakers and quite a long winded story (Stu is known for that) then down to the nitty gritty. We had recently watched a few Ted Talks, one with Deepa Narayan titled "Seven Beliefs That Can Silence Women" and another with Elizabeth Nyamayaro titled "An Invitation To Men Who Want a Better World for Women"Together Stu and I break down the topics and discuss the affects that gender inequality, feminism and the dehumanization of women and girls has affected society and what needs to be recognized and done in order to defeat it. Rochelle Ball of Ball Training Solutions can be by phone at 925-480-7662 or by email at balltrainingsolutions@gmail.com

Women Who Revolutionized History
March is Women in History Month and March 8th is International Women’s Day. For this episode I chose to acknowledge a few women who shook up society when they stood their ground for who they are, despite the huge obstacles, strength and courage it would take. This month allows us to acknowledge the importance of marginalized groups like women, transgender women and non-binary people.  These groups are some of the most ignored and erased from history often due to men taking the credit for their achievements, struggles, discoveries, inventions and advances in society and culture. These three women: Lucy “Hicks” Anderson, Lili Elbe and Christine Jorgensen made huge strides for other women and people just like them towards gender equality for the LGBTQ community. Where’d I get this info? I am thankful for the facts, theories, quotes and stories I was able to find for this episode.  Check out these articles, photos, audio and video clips below that all aided in the information of this podcast:  Christine Jorgensen https://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-20544095https://www.nbcnews.com/feature/nbc-out/pride50-christine-jorgensen-world-s-first-trans-celebrity-n1006131http://outhistory.org/exhibits/show/tgi-bios/christine-jorgensenhttps://allthatsinteresting.com/christine-jorgensenhttps://mashable.com/2015/04/27/christine-jorgensen/http://sfbaytimes.com/transgender-pioneer-christine-jorgensen/https://www.wired.com/2010/12/1201first-sex-change-surgery/https://www.them.us/story/christine-jorgensen-first-trans-celebrity Lili Elbehttps://www.thoughtco.com/lili-elbe-biography-4176321https://www.lgbtqnation.com/2018/10/meet-lili-elbe-transgender-pioneer-1930s/https://danmarkshistorien.dk/leksikon-og-kilder/vis/materiale/lili-elbe-einar-wegener-1882-1931/https://www.goodreads.com/author/quotes/6564897.Lili_Elbe Lucy Hicks Andersonhttp://www.wevebeenaround.com/lucy/https://herstryblg.com/amplify/2020/1/23/amplify-lucy-hicks-andersonhttps://www.queerportraits.com/bio/anderson    Martisse Macri is the host and producer of “The Pop Off with Martisse” her direct Apple Podcasts link is: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-pop-off/id1068008774The Pop Off with MartisseMM Podcast Consulting is located in the Greater Pittsburgh, PA area, however their services can be accessed online via video or phone. If you are interested in seeking Martisse with MM Podcast Consulting for podcast consulting services, please see her contact information below:Website: MM Podcast ConsultingEmail: martisse@mmpodcastconsulting.comPhone: 724-730-1212

Excommunicating Myself from the Church and Christianity
*Warning, some content may be considered explicit*I excommunicated myself from the church. Let me be clear, I still firmly believe in a Divine Creator, I just have no faith, loyalty, trust or desired connection to the church and the christian religion.  I had spent the majority of my life within the walled boundaries of the church building and the rigid traditions and rituals of Christianity. After many years, years even working in the "ministry" end of the church as an adult, I left.  For many years I had been questioning the religion and the church's roll in oppression, judgement, racism, sexism...the list goes on.  I could no longer stand by and watch my children grow up in a space that I personally saw, oppress and harm others.  I had no desire to raise up a family that could possibly perpetuate this.  On this weeks episode I will be discussing the judgment, hypocrisy and hatred within the church as well as fear based indoctrination and sex!  That's Not Proper can be found on all podcast platforms!!  Please Subscribe, Share and Review!Looking to be a guest or have a great topic you'd love to hear me cover? Click the link below and fill out the form or forward it to someone you know who would be an amazing guest!https://www.thatsnotproper.com/be-on-the-podcastThat's Not Proper Website:https://www.thatsnotproper.comThat's Not Proper Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/thatsnotproper/That's Not Proper Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/thatsnotproper

An Awakening
Henri Bergson wrote:“Fortunately, some are born with spiritual immune systems that sooner or later give rejection to the illusory worldview grafted upon them from birth through social conditioning. They begin sensing that something is amiss, and start looking for answers. Inner knowledge and anomalous outer experiences show them a side of reality others are oblivious to, and so begins their journey of awakening. Each step of the journey is made by following the heart instead of following the crowd and by choosing knowledge over the veils of ignorance.” Please subscribe, share and review!
