Women and Words: Final (maybe) Women and Words Podcast
Use your powers for good. Andi and Jove wander through hockey, DJ'ing, "what if" and Star Wars in this, the most likely final episode of the Women and Words podcast. They're putting the podcast on extended hiatus...it may come back later or it may not! They feel like they had a good run with this one but it's time to shift their energies and focus to other things. THANK YOU SO MUCH to all of you who have followed us and who have listened and may The Force be with you. :)

Women and Words: Adulting can be kind of dark
Andi and Jove discuss plans for the new year, the ethos of Gen X and cool things younger generations are doing; how blank journals can be intimidating; and learning not to judge yourself too harshly if you can't get some things done. Like writing. Also, now they both want the same kind of planner Carsen Taite has. Jan. 1: Author and Women and Wordster Carsen Taite gave us a round up of things on her plate this year and can we just say OMG. Have a look. Jan. 2: Author and Women and Wordster R.G. Emanuelle has some thoughts about trying to recapture her writing mojo this year. Join her. Also, Andi is a meteor fan and stayed up way late to watch a few of the Quadrantid shower, which happens in January. For more info about that shower, see this link at space.com.

Women and Words: The world needs to be disrupted in a Lizzo kind of way
Andi is now obsessed with The Great British Bake Off (I know!!!! WHAT TOOK HER SO LONG???), as is R.G. Emanuelle. Then she and Jove sent lots of love to Lizzo and noted that Linda Hamilton is still freaking awesome. Also, Jove has some great tips for helping those dealing with cancer. And please consider buying a copy of R.G. Emanuelle's A Year in the Kitchen, cuz all proceeds go to Oregon Food Bank. WOOO! Nov. 25: Author and Women and Wordster Renée Bess had a great discussion about the importance of literature by marginalized people during difficult political and economic times. Read it. Nov. 26: Author and Women and Wordster Lee Lynch went to the movies for the first time in twelve years with her wife and saw the latest Terminator movie. And...well, she had a great time. Find out why. Nov. 27: Author and Women and Wordster Jove Belle with a topic very close to her heart -- tips for helping people deal with cancer. Go see. Seriously. Nov. 28: REMEMBER! THE HOOTENANNY'S COMING! Andi Marquette with a reminder to authors to sign up on the handy form. Nov. 29: Share the luv and buy a copy of chef, author, and Women and Wordster R.G. Women and Words: In the weeds only 56 percent of the time!
Andi and Jove might have wandered in the weeds more than 56 percent of the time today, but oh, well. They're super-stoked about R.G. Emanuelle's A Year in the Kitchen, which is 12 recipes R.G. developed the first year of Dirt Road Books (which she co-founded with Andi, Jove, Michelle Teichman and Gill McKnight). All proceeds from this book go to the Oregon Food Bank. They also had a long discussion of LGBTQ rep in mainstream publishing, talked about Gentleman Jack (thanks, Stevie Carroll!) and movies. And other stuff. Because weeds. 56 percent of the time. Nov. 16: Women and Wordster Danielle Zion talks science fiction. WOOO! Check it out. Nov. 17: Author Karen Frost with an excellent discussion about getting LGBTQ books into mainstream markets. Seriously. Read this. Nov. 18: Author, explorer, and Women and Wordster Stevie Carroll managed to get in on a Calderdale Heritage Walk titled "Cliffe Hill - The Walkers and Others," which has gotten majorly popular because of the BBC series Gentleman Jack. Cliffe Hill was the home of Ann Walker, who married Anne Lister. Find out more. Nov. 19: Author and Women and Wordster Ash Bartlett doesn't like the movie You've Got Mail (1998) and finds Point Break (1991) a much better kind of statement. Find out why. Nov. 20: Author and Women and Wordster Clifford Mae Henderson was on jury duty, but that's not really the point of her story, which is more about the kind of validation being legally married can bring you. Ruminate with her. Nov. 21: Andi Marquette stepped in on R.G. Emanuelle's day to remind authors IT'S HOOTENANNY TIME SO GO GET SIGNED UP! MUAH! TUCKER THE MERRY ELF SAYS PLZ SIGN UP FOR HAPPY FUN TIMES! And you can pre-order a copy of R.G. Emanuelle's A Year in the Kitchen on Kindle -- all proceeds benefit the Oregon Food Bank!

Women and Words: When at altitude, hydrate!
Andi and Jove almost sound like they know what they're talking about as they discuss youth, creativity, peer pressure, the language of queerdom, writing prompts, hope, and stress. But of course they spend some time wandering around in the weeds, too. Because reasons.

Women and Words: Nobody was stoned in the making of this podcast (though you might think so)
Jove has a new job and it's awesome! She's working at a plasma center, and she'll tell you why donating plasma is so important! Andi then waxed all history nerd over Stevie Carroll's blog and Jove took Andi into the weeds where they rambled on about word games, blog tours, haiku, and Andi's excitement over the release of two of her works in audiobook format. Also, don't plagiarize! Dick move! https://d3ctxlq1ktw2nl.cloudfront.net/production/2019-8-22/24536105-44100-2-dd9aad1138263.mp3

Women and Words: That Pumpkin Spice Shit (PSS) is back
Andi and Jove note that last week they tried to put an episode up, but tech foiled them at every turn and they had the sadz because they liked that episode a lot. Dammit. This week they chat about whatever-the-hell, including kids back in school, Lee Lynch's ice cream penchant, things that help get you through the summer, personal shit authors may go through, and, as KD Williamson points out, pumpkin spice shit, which is back in full-force and flavoring things both good and HELL NO. And shout-out to faithful listener (bless yer heart) Jen W., who wrote in and made us laugh with a "Women and Weeds" reference WHICH, dear listeners, Jove may just put on a T-shirt...

Women and Words: Get your own tamale lady! (or, get your own tamale, lady)
Andi and Jove are kind of obsessed with tamales (can you blame them?), and they agree with Angela Grace that people need to unplug from their devices at least once a week. Meanwhile, E.J. Kindred has a debut novel out; fanart is awesome; EVERYBODY has trust issues; and ermahgerd what's up with this paper shortage thing? That sounds kind of...dystopic.
August 18, 2019
Women and Words: What is this "adulting" thing of which you speak?
Andi and Jove talk teens, books, "adulting," Georgia Beers' fanfic, Carsen Taite's chat with Georgie, Toni Morrison, sex toys (because Andi and Jove), and coatis. Srsly.

Women and Words: That time Andi tried to out-sexy Jove by losing her voice a little.
Andi might be the voice to remember this time around, as she sounds like she did a few rounds with tequila and a bar dance at Coyote Ugly. Jove agreed. Then they talked about Pride, foster parenting, boots, some politics (ugh...but it wasn't too bad), and building community. Basically, your usual wandering in the weeds podcast! LOL
July 21, 2019
Women and Words: That time Jove had a fight with a table saw and a wooden bowl...
Andi and Jove discuss Jove's latest injury, fangirl over Cheyenne Blue, enjoy drink recipes supplied by Angela Grace, and wonder how they missed Fiona Zedde's traipsing around Marrakesh before she got to France. Andi also totally got where Sam Ledel was coming from with regard to the Women's World Cup.
July 13, 2019
Women and Words: Canada has no Internet! (unless you checked your phone plan)
Andi and Jove talk about Jove's vacation north of the border and why it might take longer than you want to write a book. Plus, Andi binged the third season of Stranger Things and R.G. is on the road for the 4th. And if you're dealing with mental health issues, please reach out for help. There's no shame in that.
July 6, 2019
Women and Words: That time the Gulf of Mexico tried to kill Jove
Andi's battling a cold and Jove's getting ready for vacation, but they still managed to talk a lot about hair, misogyny, Everest, writer's block, If These Walls Could Talk 2, periods, and mental health, thus demonstrating that these two love spending time in the weeds.
June 22, 2019

Jove and Andi discuss the downfalls of passive voice in fiction, how to identify it, and, most important, how to avoid it.
June 22, 2019
Women and Words: Sweating, Swearing, and Heavy Breathing
Jove and Andi talk about Jove and her air conditioner while Andi attempted to explain the zip line she designed back in the day (it totally didn't work). They also got a little deep discussing Pride and police and representation in media
June 16, 2019
Women and Words: Tiling bathrooms, Vegas plans, and Pride
Jove is finally tiling her bathroom after a lot of research (and Andi wants pix). Also, Ann Etter recommends some cool books that feature characters faced with difficult circumstances and Pascal Scott has a new book out while Carsen Taite has launched a new fun and flirty series. And Anika Batson and R.G. Emanuelle talk Pride.
June 9, 2019
Women and Words: Wandering in the Weeds
Andi and Jove realized it was a fifth week on the blog and KD Williamson was busy on edits, so they filled in a lot of space with various discussions and rants that may or may not have anything to do with anything else. They were excited, however, that author Kate Christie now has a boxed set of her work available! YAY!
June 1, 2019
Women and Words: Even Andi doesn't know who the hell she is, but whatever! Listen anyway!
Andi and Jove talk spring, weeds, appliances, Pride, Gen X, Gen Z, and other random cray that may or may not relate directly to the podcast. lol

May 19, 2019
Women and Words: Air-conditioned pilots and zombie burlesque
ERMAGERD Andi and Jove managed to remember to record a podcast! Life is crazy busy, y'all! Anyway, Ann Etter is on the road (literally), Jove and her wife are planning a trip to Vegas next summer, and Fiona Zedde is jetting off to Spain (again). Author Sam Ledel could use some luv with her writer's block/burnout and author Rose Marini has a cool debut novel you might like. Also check out Anika Batson's book recommendation and Val Agab's discussion about internalized homophobia.
May 12, 2019
Women and Words: Sorry we missed last week but HERE ARE SOME DEEP DISCUSSIONS! Maybe.
Andi has been on the road and is freaking strung out on exhaustion but talks politics anyway with Jove (dammit, Jove). But yay! Yvonne Heidt stopped by to chat about her latest obsessions and KD Williamson lets her geek flag fly and reminds us that REPRESENTATION FREAKING MATTERS. R.G. Emanuelle wonders how changing technology will affect writing, reading, and publishing and then Andi somehow manages to remind people to try to have some fun and share some love in these nutso times.

Women and Words: Cooties, queer spaces, and ClexaCon
Y'all, Jove has MOAR COOTIES WTF. These cooties are particularly shitty because they stole most of her voice. Bastards. So Andi muddled through with various noises from Jove (you're all welcome), spouting about beta readers, cool literary festivals, links between acting and writing, subways, and ClexaCon. Also, Branwell Brönte might've been a jerk.
April 20, 2019
Women and Words: When Andi's away, Jove and Ashley will play.
Jove and Ashley did the podcast thang this week because Andi is running around at ClexaCon in Vegas. Enjoy.
April 13, 2019
Women and Words: Who has time for drama and some unicorns might be scary
HELLO, dahlings! Jove and Andi are BACK after illin'-ness. We hope all is well in your part of the world. Jove wonders if it's possible that older main characters in books aren't as common as younger because being older, you just don't have time for drama, which generally drives a story. Andi laughed quite hard at this discussion. Also, if you have a mad skill in something, OWN IT! Plus, R.G. Emanuelle might actually believe unicorns could exist and Andi's getting ready for ClexaCon.
April 7, 2019
Women and Words: It's time to plant your potatoes, folks!
Andi and Jove had crazy weeks. Andi's on the road and Jove is just...Jove. So happy St. Patrick's Day! Also, gray hair can be awesome. So can hot springs. And if you're going to be a judge in a book contest, maybe you should act out scenes to see how the narrative flows. Or something.

They are also passionate about representation in media (Black Lightning and Captain Marvel!) -- all kinds of media.

Women and Words: Consequences are a thing, parenting is STILL hard, and air travel can suck
Consequences are a thing, parenting is STILL hard, and air travel can suck (so does bronchitis). It was KD Williamson week up in here! Which is fine by us, cuz Andi and Jove LUUUUV KD and all the wisdom she drops as well as the fun stuff, too. Also, Yvonne Heidt would really like a good 2019 (same!), author Anna Ferrara is working on another project and Andi is grappling with giant philosophical sociopolitical questions with regard to "free speech" issues versus Terms of Service on web platforms because Andi doesn't do anything half-assed.
