307: EPG Review Part 4: New Tones
In this episode of Excess Advantage, we have some great news! Guillaume and I have started the French Genesys community! Pour les francophones, il y a maintenant des groupes sûr Facebook et Discord!
Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/jdrgenesys/
Discord server: https://discord.gg/bUqj2nD
Now, you all probably know that I am American, but I do know enough French to get into trouble, so I hope to see my French-speaking listeners on the new community sites!
For the rest of the episode, I answer a listener question about incorporating the EPG and RoT magic talents. Then we do a deep dive into the two new tones in the EPG: Heist and Noir.
306: Magic Skills Guide
In today's episode, we take a break from the EPG review and I have a nice chat with Guillaume about his Skills Guide. It's been a #1 best seller on Foundry practically since the day it dropped, and for good reason!
In this episode, we focus on the magic skills section because he has some amazing new rules for limiting starting magic without charging characters XP to unlock, and instead relies on skill checks!

304: EPG Review, Part 2: Specialization Trees
In today's episode, I tackle maybe one of the most controversial aspects of the EPG: specialization trees! These talent trees originated in the Star Wars RPG, which is the predecessor of Genesys. I try to be as impartial as I could, but personal preferences do crop up.

303: EPG Review, Part 1
Greetings and welcome! This is the first of my more bite-sized episodes (clocking in a just under 20 minutes) and I take a deep dive into the EPG, Part 3 Chapter 1: Expanded Magic rules.
In this episode, I talk about the new magic talents and actions added in the EPG and how I feel like the EPG is a love letter from the devs to the community.
Season 3 Intermission 1: Updates
Just a quick episode to update all y'all on what's happening with the podcast as well as the future of Genesys!
302: Vehicles, Revisited
In this episode, I do a bit more of a deep dive into the vehicle rules and how to use them in your game. I focus on
- the different types of vehicle-centric campaigns.
- Small-craft combat and what is needed for a dog-fight.
- Other vehicular actions available to those who aren't the pilot or gunner.

301: Vehicles
With the recent release of the Expanded Player's Guide and the inclusion of vehicle creation rules, there has been a renewed interest into vehicles. So today we do a deep dive into the rules for vehicles: what a vehicle is, how it works, what it can and can't do and how vehicular combat differs from personal combat!

2i1: Asking Good Questions; Giving Quality Answers
Welcome to the first interlude episode of season 2! Due to an unfortunate family emergency, Scott was unable to make our regular recording day so I stepped in and gave a monologue on how you can ask good questions and give quality answers when interacting with the online community.
While this advice is aimed at the Genesys community specifically, the advice is universally applicable to any fandom for any game system!

208: Stealing From Other Games
Welcome back to Excess Advantage! Today, Scott and I discuss stealing from other games: what to steal, what not to steal and how to do it well. We discuss how to mitigate changes to the at-the-table mechanics as well as stealing prep/behind-the-scenes material whole-cloth from other games.
Specific items discussed:
The Perilous Wilds, a Dungeon World setting creation supplement
Elite Dangerous RPG, which has some of the best solar system creation rules I've ever seen
Stars Without Number, which has a great system for not only populating a cluster of star systems but also for figuring out what the main planet is like
Scott's Traveller sector generator, for automating the sector creation for Mongoose Publishing's second edition of the Traveller RPG

207: Shadow of the Beanstalk Dev Chat
It's going to be a long one today, so I hope you enjoy spending the next hour with us!
206: Magic
Welcome to another great episode! Today I am once again joined by Scott and we discuss the magic system in Genesys. We go in-depth about how it works as well as the whys it works.
One of the big things we talk about towards the end is the post by /u/greatfrito with a table for making your own magic implements!
Enjoy!
205: Setting Master Class, Part II
204: Setting Master Class, Part I
In February 2019, Scott and I did a Genesys master class on setting creation. Today we proudly present part 1 (of 2) of that talk.
The class itself went for over an hour and a half, but I was able to distill it down into two episodes of just over a half hour each! This episode is more scattershot than prior, mainly because there is a live audience we were interacting with and answering questions as they arose.
If you're interested in joining us for further master classes you can find myself on Twitter or join the Facebook Group, Discord server or Subreddit to interact with the community!
203: Nemeses, Nemesises…Nemesii…? Part IV
Today is the ultimate episode in the Adversaries series in which Scott "DrainSmith" and I build one nemesis each. We also get to talking about what makes for a good nemesis, rival or minion. It's a great episode and a wonderful conclusion!
In this episode, Scott shamelessly mentions his Dispensary of Genesys which is a one-stop shop for all amazing things Genesys!
Also, you might have noticed the new artwork I have for the podcast! Thanks to Scott for that!
202: Nemeses, Nemesises…Nemesii…? Part III
Welcome to the penultimate episode in the Adversaries series! Today I am joined by none other than Scott "DrainSmith" himself as we build a few adversaries! During the build process, we not only tell you what the numbers are but why we choose what we do and workshop things a bit.
Do note, though, that the adversaries Scott gives us are straight from his Something Strange setting while my adversaries are off the cuff. Since it takes longer than just half an hour to design two minions, two rivals and two nemesii, it's been broken up into two episodes. So keep a look out for the exciting conclusion next time!
201: Technical Difficulties
Interlude 3: What’s Next
119: Dev Interview, Part 2
118: Dev Interview, Part 1
We discuss so many things in part 1 of the chat that I can't even begin to enumerate them. You'll just have to have a listen for yourself!
Also mentioned in this episode is the Discord server where this live chat took place, the Facebook Group and the subreddit. Come join us if you haven't already!
117: Nemeses, Nemesises…Nemesii…? Part II
Just remember two very important points:
• Step 1: Develop a Concept is the most important step. It informs all the decisions you make
• Your PC sheets are the best guidelines you have. What works for one group might not work for another
116: Nemeses, Nemesises…Nemesii…? Part I
Part 1 is all about the mechanics of adversaries: how minions, rivals and nemeses work mechanically, as well as what they can bring to your encounters.
Also in this episode, I talk about joining us on various platforms.

113: Social Encounters
I do have to apologize for my voice, I was getting over a head cold or something when it was recorded, so I do sound off and stutter more than usual. I hope that doesn't put you off of the episode, though!
112: Homebrew
I talk a bit about my work-in-progress Titanfall: Genesys (https://github.com/c-bec-k/TitanfallGenesys) mod and we talk about his conversion from a Pathfinder game to Genesys, along with a bit of brainstorming a PC sentient rat swarm.

103: The Basics
What's with the funny symbols?
How Do I interpret the dice?
How the heck do I form my dice pool?
I apologize for the length of this episode, but I didn't want to cut it into two pieces since the core mechanics are, well, core to how the game plays. It's just under 29 minutes in length.

Discussion Points in the episode:
• I have a patron! Please visit my Patreon page if you would like to support the show and gain access to the patron-only Discord
• The players for this game were found on the Redemption Podcast Discord server. It's a great Star Wars live play. If you like Genesys, the NDS and/or Star Wars it's worth a listen!
There are no questions this week, but if you have one please drop me a line!
102: Making Genesys Your Own
Creating your own skills, archetypes/species, talents, gear and adversaries are all discussed. While this chapter is in the GM's Toolkit part of the book, don't forget that players can use it, too! If they have an idea for their character let 'em use the tools to make it and provide it for GM approval.
