FanGirlHour, S4,E2: The Passion Of Wine
My guest is my new friend, Nicholas Heckford, who shares his journey of finding out his passion for life, the wine, the wine industry, and all things wine. We chat about where he came from, how it influenced him, his background, education, and where he hopes for his future. Most importantly, Nicholas's true desire is the emphasis of community within the context of this industry.
Nicholas Heckford is a wine connoisseur and currently resides in Grants Pass Oregon. He is a Sonoma County native and grew up in the Russian River appellation surrounded by vineyards. His love of agriculture is rooted in his childhood, however it wasn't until his early twenties. He became involved and fell in love with the wine industry. His educational background consists of several viticulture classes with an emphasis on sustainability. His most recent endeavor was a paid internship with Wilbur-Ellis, an agribusiness specializing in agricultural products. Nicholas’s commitment to superior knowledge and a deep understanding of wine has inspired him to pursue the sommelier and wine journalism route. He will be attending Umpqua Community College in Roseburg Oregon, majoring in viticulture and marketing. He hopes to start his sommelier classes and journalism classes soon after.
A Life Of Film-Making (FanGirlHour, S4,E1)
It's Season 4, Episode 1 of the FanGirlHour! And, in this episode, could be called the FanGirlHour...& a little bit more, I interview my good friend, Ray Nomoto Robison who shares his life long love & journey with film-making. Ray shares how he fell into film-making and the reasons why, what influenced him including family, upbringing, favorite films, and just why he loves the art & creation of filmmaking that keeps bringing him back again and again!
Ray Nomoto Robison
Filmmaker
A Fine Arts major in college Robison decided half way through his freshman year that film should be his medium. After receiving his film degree he opted not to move to LA or any other metropolitan area preferring a more rural lifestyle. In Montana and Oregon Robison made a 20 year career of producing and directing local television commercials then began teaching at Southern Oregon University where his students reignited his passion for filmmaking. He began production on his first feature film in 2001. The ultra-low budget feature was sold to a small east coast US distributor allowing Robison to recoup some of his investment. He then began writing his second feature film and in 2007 he saw his first film festival screening (Dances with Films) with his film noir piece Sixes and the One Eyed King. The experience increased the momentum in his passion for filmmaking and he began work on the short film Model Rules which would be the first short film he had made since college. Numerous features and shorts followed and today Robison as a film director has over 100 film festival selections under his belt and continues independent filmmaking primarily in Oregon where he makes his home. He is currently in pre-production on a horror film And Evil Makes 8 which will be the first feature he will have directed in over 10 years.

Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life & Other Python Teachings (FanGirlHour)
In this episode, I chat with my friend, Jason Boese, about his lifelong love of all things Monty Python. We discuss how he came to love the show, how it has impacted his life personally & professionally, his favorite of the pythons and why, favorite of the films, and songs, & more.
Jason Boese
In the past few years, Jason has garnered worthwhile film and life experience to move my craft forward. Life hasn't always been kind to him, but he has managed to persevere and come out relatively fine. Being an eccentric amateur philosopher has opened his eyes to ways of the world, and has enhanced his writing ability and content, as well as his ability to effectively direct and shoot a film, and edit the footage into a finished product. He takes inspiration from Monty Python for his comedy stylings, and Alfred Hitchcock for his way of directing his performers. Showing a lot by doing a little and being highly focused has helped center his stories.

X-Men Unite!
In this episode of the FanGirlHour, I chat with my good friend, Kurk Kasparian, about his lifelong love of the X-Men and how his first initial love of it brought about his overall acceptance of himself which allowed him to become comfortable in his own skin and pursue his calling.
Kurk Kasparian is a film producer, actor, and award-winning director who has worked with some of the biggest names in Hollywood, such as Reese Witherspoon, Michael Biehn, and Jennifer Lopez. He's vegan and loves animals more than people - which sometimes makes it difficult for him to work in an industry that often exploits them. Kurk's secret passion for the superhero genre is no secret anymore- his favorite comic book is X-Men. Kurk is an up-and-coming film director, and recently directed his first feature film, a romantic comedy called "The Last Kiss". Details on where to watch it will be released soon! He also directed a short film, a dark comedy called "happy Prank day" it has won 9 nominations and 8 awards for best comedy, best cast ensemble, and best director. Links to watch that will also be coming soon. When he isn't working in Hollywood he runs a video Production and marketing company focused on helping the vegan e-commerce market. you can find him on imdb:https://www.imdb.com/name/nm5373925/?ref_=fn_al_nm_1 ; linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/kurkkasparian/ or Instagram: @krukkasparian he also provided an email kurkkasparian@gmail.com
All My Taylors!
In this week's episode, I visit with my good friend, Taylor, as she shares with me her lifelong love for one of the longest running soap opera's, All My Children. Taylor is a superfan of All My Children, a soap opera that ran on ABC from 1970-2011. She produces the web series Surviving Maine and composes music for web series, podcasts, and (hopefully some day) TV. You can watch Surviving Maine at https://www.youtube.com/c/SurvivingMaine

. She also has a PhD in Sociology.

Corrections:
**After her 2nd husband died Mrs. Onassis went into publishing, not after her 3rd husband died, Mrs. Onassis never remarried after Mr. Onassis died in 1975
**Black Jack Bouvier was known as Black Jack because of the darkening of his tan that he would get in the summertime
***Jacqueline Lee Bouvier Kennedy Onassis was Mrs. Onassis full name (including married names)

In Honor Of Norm

I talk about how I came to love the show, all that that encompassed during the time I was at the height of my craze, and how it still has made an impact in my life and art to this day. This episode is dedicated to the late great comedian, Norm Macdonald.
Wait, which one is better?
This week, I compare and contrast the similarities and differences of two popular teen shows of the nineties, attempting to answer the age old question, which is better, Saved By The Bell or Beverly Hills, 90210? You decide.
