Episode 51: Craig Wright - Run for your Life
Gerhard and I chat to this incredible human being, husband, father and friend with a heart of gold. This Durbanite and I connected recently on Facebook through his Project Run Initiative, a similar concept to what we do in Fisantekraal with For The Long Run.
We were blown away by the contribution to society he is making, the lives he is changing and his story (we all have one!) which resulted in him making the decision to live out his dream of helping kids realise their running potential. Craig has endured significant personal challenges that he could have allowed to make him bitter and resentful, including a mountain bike accident and illness, but he continues to forge ahead with a smile and the determination to keep on running.
Craig's Project Run in Kwa-Zulu Natal includes collecting and distributing running shoes, running socks and running kits. Also on his project list is the collection and distribution of sports bras. He believes that this is just the beginning of something nation-changing and we certainly agree.
If you want to get involved with Craig in the Durban area, please contact him on 083-292-0424 or projectrunsa@gmail.com.
Episode 50: We Want To Connect With You!
Christine and Gerhard chat about #LiveLife and how they want to help people become better versions of themselves by sharing stories that will uplift and inspire others. If you have a story (or know of someone with one) of personal transformation, overcoming addiction or have taken on a "super cool" adventure that challenged you and pushed you past impossible, please tell us about it! You are an ordinary, everyday superhero doing amazing things - this is something to celebrate!
Overcoming adversity and the curveballs life throws our way can be hurtful, testing and gut-wrenching. However, humans have a remarkable ability to bounce back even stronger after being challenged. Don't down-play your story - it is YOURS and it is UNIQUE. In my network of close friends and family, I know of at least 10 people off the top of my head that have the most inspiring stories of resilience to tell, but they feel that what they have accomplished is not significant enough to share.
Sharing your experiences and what you learned from these is not arrogant or vain or patronising, if you are purposefully using your story to encourage, motivate and help people to be better than what they were yesterday. Stories often instil hope and healing inside people struggling alone, and show them that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
So, find your voice, drop us an email or WhatsApp and remember, sharing is caring.
