How one song has reignited my passion for Living on the B side

How one song has reignited my passion for Living on the B side

I have picked the song ‘Evacuate the dancefloor’ as the theme song for this episode because it appeared to me at a time when I needed a spark, something to remind me of the reasons why I created Living on the B Side.

Listening to the lyrics and hearing ‘Evacuate the dancefloor’ has given me enthusiasm, passion and determination to continue to spread the word about the power of music, how it can be part of the medicine we need to keep well and healthy. Plus, I share what type of ripple effect I want to create through it all.

Whilst all is not roses and sunshine, having this medicine in my life allows me to find balance and strength to carry one. But press ‘play’ to hear me explain more about choosing this song and what’s been happening in my life and where I need your support.

Join me in this episode where I share all the above and a little more on the how and why this song has helped me re-centre myself.

I write, draw, paint, sing, play my guitar and try to love others because I know I am dearly and endlessly loved and many of us are hurt and trampled and end up hurting others because no one chose to love us… But I believe we are all here to teach each other about the goodness that exists in this world and to evolve as a race to greater acts of love, compassion, and sacrifice… including and not limited to loving the earth and animals that are all around us that we have forgotten to watch after.

I have been singing since I can remember and I really want to encourage others who suffer that they are not alone in their suffering, there is someone who understands and can help you get past the suffering and not just survive but to live and thrive and bring joy and healing to others as well.

I'm a disabled Latina woman who is a full time caretaker for my elderly mother, I advocate for bunnies and marginalized groups.

These Dreams: An Introvert's Anthem of Hope and Inspiration

These Dreams: An Introvert's Anthem of Hope and Inspiration

In this episode I embark on a musical journey back to the late 1980s when a song had the power to touch our hearts, stir our spirits, and inspire our dreams. Join me as I delve deep into the enchanting melody and lyrics of "These Dreams" by Heart.

From the moment the first notes of "These Dreams" filled the airwaves, it was clear that this song was something truly special. The hauntingly beautiful voice and music pulled me in it struck a chord deep within. When reflecting on my early teenage years I share a personal connection to the song that continues to resonate through the decades.

As the years passed, it became evident that "These Dreams" was more than just a tune; it was an anthem for introverts and dreamers, like myself. The song encapsulated the power of dreams, the essence of hope, and the inspiration that can drive us forward. It serves as a comforting reminder that it's okay to be introspective, to dream, and to find strength in quiet moments.

In this episode, I try to unpack the layers of meaning within the lyrics, exploring how "These Dreams" has been a constant source of encouragement and lifting my spirits. The song's timeless message still holds the power to ignite a sense of purpose, especially when the world becomes overwhelming.

My hope is that, through this discussion, you too will come to love and appreciate "These Dreams" as much as I do. Let it become part of your soundtrack to your moments of reflection, inspiration, and determination. If you find yourself in need of a lift to keep pursuing your dreams, this episode is the dose of motivation and inspiration you've been waiting for.

Song of the soul: How one song helps me find the light in the darkness

Song of the soul: How one song helps me find the light in the darkness

In this episode, I'm going to be using Jimin’s (of BTS) song ‘’Set me free part 2’’ to talk about why this song is my second song in a trilogy of songs given to me by music, and how I apply it to my current life.

This song for me focuses on having determination, passion and overcoming and basically stepping into my true self. I feel I'm at a point where I need to get out of my own way much more, what do I want in life and how do I want to spend living it?!

It is time for me to step up and more into who I truly am, let the world know and ditch fear and concern about who says what, where and when and why.

This song is truly a wonderful anthem for anyone that struggles with letting go of these emotions and empowering to keep that determination and passion going to overcome our often self-created hurdles in life.

How to become more intuitive with the help of music, with Peta-Ann Wood

How to become more intuitive with the help of music, with Peta-Ann Wood

Do you know how music is part of being clairaudient?

I did not until I met Peta-Ann and her deep ability to see and feel music on a completely different level. She is a woman that approaches life from an angle of acceptance, love and inclusivity and in a way that is elegant but also rebellious. She is the definition of ‘Elegant Rebel’ and it is also her mission to make each and every one of us understand that we too are unique and need to share this with the world, without apology.

Part of her journey through life is deeply connected with music. And music is there to nudge her, sometimes gently other times more forcefully, to make her stop, listen and receive messages sent to her that she needs to hear and learn from.

In our chat Peta-Ann shares situations where music literally changes her mood and life. Also how growing up she always felt this deep and powerful connection to it, how this incorporates with her Woo Woo’ lifestyle and what she wants others to realise when it comes to having music in their life.

A powerful and rebellious chat that hopefully will make your ears prick up a little more when it comes to songs and sounds that are around you.

During chat we discussed:

• Her music story; from childhood to today

• The importance of music in her life

• Examples of how music can bring deep & lasting memories for us

• The power of music combined with intuition

• Elegant Rebel – the story of staying flat after break cancer & how music is connected to this

• Why tuning into clairaudience is needed for personal development

• Two songs that mean a lot to her,

• Why ‘Woo woo’ is not what people think it is

• Peta-Ann’s message to everyone

Follow Peta-Ann on her various social networks or visit her website by clicking the links on the left & below.

More about Peta-Ann Wood:

Peta-Ann is the Founder of Elegant Rebel, providing support for other soul-full rebels in rediscovering their uniqueness and celebrating all that they are and can be. Elegant Rebels choose to follow their inner-knowing instead of societal norms and take heart-centred action filled with compassion, kindness and grace.

Peta-Ann is also a breast cancer thriver, having a bilateral mastectomy in her mid-40s. Post mastectomy, she decided to elegantly rebel against society’s version of normal and chose to ‘stay-flat’ – meaning no prosthesis and no reconstruction.

This decision came after much soul searching, trial and error and discovering the really odd things that may occur to your mind, body and soul after having a bilateral mastectomy.

You can check out her book ''What happens when they don't grow back - the upside down view of life after a bilateral mastectomy' here: https://peta-annwood.au/meet-peta-ann/

More than words: How to Use Music to Build Self-Love

More than words: How to Use Music to Build Self-Love

How do we cultivate more self-love? How can we start to pay more attention to ourselves and give us the time and attention we need to embrace our uniqueness and accept us for who and how we are?

I started to ask myself these questions (again) after recording the interview with Barbara in episode 69 (you can listen/watch it right here). She went through a process of looking at her life and make changes, which have led her to a happier life overall – AND starting to love herself, too!

Self-love. It sounds so easy in theory to achieve this, yet most of us start off great and then feel we fail because we aren’t consistent in looking after ourselves. Or we find it super hard to even try to give ourselves what we so deeply want of others and give to others.

How can we find ways to fall in love with ourselves and continue this path, no matter what life throws at us?

I believe we need to do ‘More than Words’ and jump into action mode. When it comes to us and provide what we need, words aren’t’ enough anymore. I have picked this beautiful song by Extreme as the song to accompany this episode as the lyrics so beautifully highlight the need to stop talking about what we can and should do and start taking the steps to find our love for ourselves.

During this episode I try to share my view on what self-love is, why it is important and how music can help us with this process to create awareness on own ‘self-love scale’, ways to incorporate on our journey and fill our own cup up first.

I also mention a Spotify self-love playlist that you can use to remind yourself to keep working on that important part of your life. Go and give it a listen and please get in touch if you have more to add to this list.

https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5krG8JZ9XWyctGh7LbcJQm?si=2e8c6ae9609d42e5 Let’s make sure we all love ourselves more deeply and passionately so we can love others equally.

The rock band Extreme's song I refer to during this episode is 'More than Words' https://youtu.be/UrIiLvg58SY ''Saying "I love you"

Is not the words I want to hear from you

It's not that I want you

Not to say, but if you only knew

How easy it would be to show me how you feel''

During this episode I chat about:

• How can music help us with self-love (3:19)

• The best way to start your self-love journey (8:02)

• How to help yourself with this journey (12:10)

Moving through a dark time and emotional numbness

Moving through a dark time and emotional numbness

Emotional numbness can strike anyone in their life. Especially when we navigate tricky and hard times, which take a lot out of us.

In this episode I am trying to share my personal thoughts around the first few months of 2023, how I shut down emotionally because life was too overwhelming for me and how the song ‘Wild Flower’ by BTS member RM penetrated my ‘numbness bubble’ and allowed me to slowly return to life.

If you are experiencing anything similar, I hope this episode shows you that music can potentially help you start to feel again, allow you to move through the emotions that need releasing and return to start living life a little more.

During this episode I chat about:

  • The path to my darkness and numbness – why 2023 did not start well for me
  • How numbness feels (or not!)
  • How ‘Wild Flower’ by RM has penetrated that bubble
  • How this song is like my healing medicine
  • Why I can smile again and feel happier, even if things aren’t as I wish they were
  • Why music can be part of our recovery to happiness
  • How I deepened my connection with music and become my ‘partner in crime’
  • Life is worth living!

Link to the blog post I refer to in this episode: WILD FLOWERS – TIME TO OVERCOME MY OBSTACLES & SEIZE NEW OPPORTUNITIES

The importance of being busy being free, with Eileen March

The importance of being busy being free, with Eileen March

Relationship breakdowns are never easy, fun nor something we want’ to experience – love, family or else!

In today’s episode, Eileen shares her own experience dealing with exactly such a situation, but she had the support of one song that helped her realise it was not the end. It was actually the beginning of more self-exploration and new way of living. Of course, it wasn’t a simple and quick process, but she made it and today wants others to know they can do it, too!

Talking to Eileen, energy coach, healer, cyclical living guide, and witch, is a soft, velvety and calming experience. Many will be surprised to hear that, because when they hear the term ‘witch’, well, they associate it with negativity, evil and harshness. We set the record straight on that, too!

Join us for this wonderful chat and let us know what your biggest takeaway is!

During out time together we chatted about:

  • The song that helped you get through the breakdown of a relationship [2:31]
  • Biggest takeaway from going through this process and having this song to listen to [4:52]
  • How music can speak to things that we haven't been able to define for ourselves [11:27]
  • How did she change the way she shows up in the world or don't show up in the world after this process? [12:37]
  • We talk about ‘witches’ and how we feel the way we look at them needs to change [14:31]
  • If music/sound is important to witches [16:55]
  • Music and the importance for movements/events [18:13]
  • Power of music connect with each other [20:32]
  • Song that could describe best your current stage in life and your business [23:31]
  • Final last words why you should incorporate more music in your life [27:46]

More about Eileen:

Eileen is an energy coach, healer, cyclical living guide, and witch. After leaving a career in midwifery that left her burnt out and depleted, Eileen has dedicated herself to supporting her clients in finding the courage to rest and prioritize their own needs without feeling guilty about it so that they can feel more in control of their lives. She does this with a blend of coaching, energy healing, and helping women reconnect with the cyclical wisdom of their bodies and the earth. She works with women in her signature 12-week 1:1 mentorship program, Rekindled. In addition, Eileen hosts women's circles both online and in-person honouring the Wheel of the Year Celebrations.

• Song that relates to this period of her life and why she did not listen to it for a long time

• What made her re-discover this song

• The Universe and its own frequency

• What her mission in life is and what song reflects that nicely

• Why she calls herself The Barefoot Dancing Rocket Scientist

Why music with a message and intention is more important than ever, chat with Chad Lewine

Why music with a message and intention is more important than ever, chat with Chad Lewine

What is your view on today’s state of music? Are the majority of the songs inspiring and mean something to you consciously? Or does it all blur into some kind of background music with no real intention or message?!

This is the main topic we touch on heavily during my chat with Chad. Chad is a musician on a mission to put the ‘intention’ back into music and songs. His mission is ‘Pop, for good’ and he strongly believes that we all need to become aware again of how important it is to have music with intention and meaning. That what we hear gets absorb by our subconscious and impacts us heavily in our day to day lives. And hence needs to be ‘food for thought’ and less distraction overall.

A fascinating and though provoking talk that hopefully will leave you pondering and question the music you listen to and why.

During out time together we chatted about:

• Why he is a musician on a mission

• What his vision and mission entails

• His view on the current state of the music industry

• Why he believes we need to wake up and start a change in this industry

• The song that kicked off his love of music and understanding of its power

• Why people recording/live streaming concerts makes him a little mad

• How our subconscious has been ‘trained’ for certain actions in life (by various sources), example is at live concerts

• What he picked Caroline Polacheck’s song ‘Welcome to my island’ as one of his current favourite songs

More about Chad:

Chad Lewine followed the same path that most aspiring talent does. At 5 years old he knew he wanted to be a rock star. But the reasons for the dream have shifted throughout his life. His first exposure to music production was through elective music tech and audio engineering classes in high school. In 2009 Chad started taking his own music seriously while attending college at the now defunct Art Institute of Pittsburgh. Chad recorded his first single, “Life is a Ride” at Krizan’s Sonic Boom Studios in Raritan, NJ in 2010.

In the summer of 2013 he renamed himself as HoneyChrome and reoriented his music to the EDM and hip hop of the time, OUTwithU was one of the first songs he released during that time. In 2013 Chad moved into one of the last real artists’ lofts in Brooklyn at Bedford & Myrtle in Bed Stuy. This creative environment, led by actor and director Lin Lauren, was the first time he had ever been surrounded by and immersed in art. Here he wrote and recorded most of his second self-produced album, the 14 track new-age, spirit-science laden and anthemic Daylight Animal.

At the end of 2017, Chad’s homemade demo for Boomerang, also featured on Feeling High, caught the ear of a radio promoter who connected him with Mike Rogers, mixing engineer of the 90s global hit Groove is on the Heart. Rogers ended up producing Chad’s biggest track yet, Boomerang. Released in the summer of 2018, Boomerang is a sticky and infectious pop record, with sonic accents that just feel like Chad.

During the second half of 2022, Lewine’s mission fully crystallized. Through the turbulent end of an abusive relationship and a renewed and confident sense about his music, POP, FOR GOOD was born and the first proper brand was developed for his artistry. With an image that matches his outspoken, somewhat existentialist and controversial perspective, Lewine has fully owned his mission and has just released his latest single Dark Nights, on February 15th, 2023.

Listen to music to help strengthen your family bond, chat with Jenn Abbatiello

Listen to music to help strengthen your family bond, chat with Jenn Abbatiello

Music loving parents listen up – this episode is for you! I have invited Jenn Abbatiello to spill the beans on how to strengthen the bond between parent and child by using music.

From how music effects your child’s brain and hence emotions to incorporating music in our daily lives, Jenn shares her own experiences and tips on this topic.  Also, through working with many parents she believes that to parent with compassion, empathy, kindness and love it is up to us adults to learn to regulate our own emotions first.

Tune in and listen to a wonderfully insightful chat around parenting, emotions and how music definitely can help you with that.

During out time together we chatted about:

• Why we adults have to learn to regulate our emotions (for our kids)

• Who struggles more with emotions - mum or dad?

• Tips for parents and how to integrate music with their parenting

• Why it's important to ensure both boys and girls are emotionally regulated and well

• Her favourite song & band & some cool stories around that

• What type of music her own kids listen to

• How important music is in her home and how it helps with her parenting

• Why we should expose children to all emotions and music that makes them feel it

• Song that describes her life and or business right now

• Final words (includes a FAB quote!)

More about Jenn:

Outwardly my life looked idyllic; successful career, beautiful family but on the inside I was a mess. Desperate to stop my child's tantrums. It wasn't until I learned to shift my lens and look inwards that I was able to decode my own triggers. What message they were sending me. My child was a mirror showing me parts of myself that remained unhealed. When I healed those parts I was able to look at my child with a different lens of love and compassion and finally break the cycle.

I became more loving towards myself, my now 2 boys and my husband as well. I found more joy, confidence and calm in my parenting AND life.

This is why I am committed to helping other mom’s break cycles of guilt, anger and shame. Music is a part of that healing journey.

Don’t let fear and self-doubt hold you back from chasing after your dream, chat with Luke Rossmo

Don’t let fear and self-doubt hold you back from chasing after your dream, chat with Luke Rossmo

We all have dreams and desires, but most of us are too afraid to go after them. It takes facing our fears to openly declare and work towards fulfilling what we crave so much and know is what we want.

Luke is a wonderful example of going through this process, from the moment of discovering his dream of playing on stage in front of thousands with his favourite band to now openly declaring that it will happen.

What an interesting conversation around the discovery of this and to now executing and working towards making it a reality.

We talk a lot about fear and how that impacts our lives, with of course a music twist, a conversation not to miss!

During out time together we chatted about:

· When Luke started to take music more seriously. 1:40

· The importance of taking the first step in life. 5:47

· Limiting beliefs and overcoming them. 9:16

· Sharing Luke’s journey and dreams. 12:59

· The power of music and emotions. 17:23

· Music is not judgmental but neutral. 22:07

· Make friends with your fear. 26:08

More about Luke:

Luke Rossmo began his music career at the age of 28. Fear and self-doubt keep him playing small. Over the following three years he played dozens of gigs, released a music single, “It’s you” then Album titled “pieces of me”.

His music has been described as if Dave Matthews, Ed Sheeran and Eddie Veddar got together to write play and collaborate.

Join Luke on his next journey which he’s tilted “The Im(Possible) Dream”. Luke’s dream is to play with the greatest band in the world (in his opinion) The Dave Matthews Band.

He hopes to inspire others to look at their own lives to see where they may be holding themselves back and aspiring to their own dreams.

Success is more than money, it’s the life we create & the footprints we leave behind, chat with ISAA – Irish Hip Hop artist

Talking to musicians about the power of music is always super interesting.

Today, I welcome ISAA, a Hip Hop artist from Ireland to my Podcast.

ISAA’s journey as a musician isn’t your typical one, where it begins very early on in life, but it is choice he made in adulthood that has now put him on the path of creating his own music.

We talk about that choice, his plans and vision moving forward and how he intends to support other upcoming artists and where he plans to branch out with the help of music.

There’s also a conversation around why we need the makers and listeners of music and how that ties in with his overall message for the wider world.

Come and join us for a relaxed and uplifting chat with a cool and dedicated young Hip Hop artist.

The main points we talked about:

· 2021 rebrand and background as to why he made that decision

· If there was a trigger point to dedicate himself to music

· His favourite artist and why

· Why checking out your competition is crucial for your own success

· His vision he intends to make reality

· Motivational speeches & why he is fired up to dive into that, too

· His definition of the power of music

· Making music for the art - his take on this statement

· 2 songs that help him celebrate & for tough times

· Other artists he listens to and why

· His message that he wants everyone to know about

With the Band, Memoirs of a Music Shop Owner, chat with Billy Cole

With the Band, Memoirs of a Music Shop Owner, chat with Billy Cole

Are you looking for an inspiring and uplifting chat about the power of music? Look no further as I welcome Billy Cole to the podcast. Billy’s life is all about music, passion and giving back.

Over the course of nearly 50 years in the music business, his love of music and music instruments (specifically woodwind and brass instruments) has allowed him to create experiences and memories he now shares in his new book ‘With the Band, Memoirs of a Music Shop Owner’.

It truly is a chat not to be missed and provides many, many goosebump moments as well as how music can translate into giving back and connecting with a wider community.

During our chat we touched on:

· How his music instrument journey started

· What his book ‘The Book: With The Band, Memoirs of a Music Shop Owner’ is about

· What ‘Horns for Haiti’ is all about and how it came to life

· The power of music and the amazing things that can happen if we trust in it

· The first artist he met and fixed the instrument for

· More stories of looking after and fixing wind instruments for many more musicians, including Jethro Tull, Hall & Oats, Chicago, etc.

· How many amazing humans he met along the way, away from musicians

· When he pivoted from a big business with employees to ‘back to basics’ with a smaller shop in Saratoga Springs

· What does and doesn’t happen backstage of a concert

· Who he describes as his ‘Angels’ and why he sees them as that

· Advice for those who think of learning an instrument

· The amazing benefits of playing an instrument with others and for others (and fixing instruments, too!)

· His take on the power of music

· If he has a favourite band, and if so, who it is

· Current band and or song he listens to

· His take on the current music scene and bands

Billy Cole’s Biography:

At the age of 17 I went to The University of New York at Morrisville where I studied musical Instrument repair. With diploma in hand, I applied for work but found that no music store wanted to hire me. So, I opened my own shop "Cole's Woodwind and Brass" Soon after I married my high school sweetheart Mary Alice. through many serendipitous twists and turns, we raised our family with our little music shop. Today, after 45 years of working on horns, I reflect back with great appreciation for a life that has given so much. In an effort to give back I travelled to the impoverished nation of Haiti in 2016 to teach instrument repair. After returning several times, I founded Horns for Haiti Inc. in 2020, an organization that teaches band instrument repair and how to start your own music business. To date, we've trained dozens of musicians and music teachers how to repair and started two businesses. Billy Shop D'Haiti, Musical Instrument Repair and the Haitian Music Supply Company.

The best is yet to come; Using intentions to create a better life

The best is yet to come; Using intentions to create a better life

In this first episode of 2023 I share with you why I chose to set intentions rather than ‘New Years Resolutions’ or big goals.

I also decided to have monthly theme songs and share how these are connected to my intentions, plus I share some ideas how you can use intentions for yourself. I give you an example of my January theme song, which I hope explains what I try to achieve through this process a little more.

Plus, why I did not do a ‘2022 in review’ episode and why that was a blessing in disguise as it allowed me to realise a few things that I needed to move forward.

During this episode I chat about:

· How my December 2022 did not turn out as I planned

· Why this was a blessing in disguise

· Quick 2022 review for my podcast

· Why I am setting intentions instead of goals

· My theme song for January 2022

· Ideas how you can use intentions (more)

The incredible moment a song changed her Life...and name!, with Avery Thatcher

The incredible moment a song changed her Life...and name!, with Avery Thatcher

Has a song every had such a profound impact on your life that it made you change your name?

This is a first for me to hear about such a deep and life changing moment induced by a song, which Avery shares so beautifully during our chat. It actually left me a little speechless!

You definitely want to hear her story which is closely interwoven with music, from the moment she knew it was time to change her name and all that followed – including how she uses music with her clients today!

A little bit about Avery:

Avery Thatcher is the CEO and founder of the Inner Stillness Outer Chaos Podcast and the Flow State Membership. When she started her career as a Registered Nurse working in the ICU she noticed that the majority of the reasons people found themselves in the ICU were because of illnesses and diseases that could be linked to chronic stress. She decided to get out of the reactive side of medicine and now helps highly sensitive high achievers prevent burnout and reverse the negative health effects of stress.

During our chat we covered:

· Avery being a highly sensitive person & how music helped her growing up

· How music can catch you off-guard (with your emotions)

· Her backstory the lead up to the big life changing moment

· The process she went through AFTER hearing the life changing song

· Why she had to change her first name

· What stands out about this specific song, even today

· How she believes specific playlists help us move through emotional states

· Suggestions of songs that can help with that

· How she is using music in her business to support clients

· Why it’s important to move away from too much analytical thinking and into our emotions

· The song that describes her business and or life right now

Do believe that one song can truly support you on your mental health journey? This episode will show you that it is possible and true.

I invited Joseph to share his story on today’s episode, which dives straight into his mental health journey. He talks about his personal experiences through which he put together his own toolkit and how music plays its part in all of it.

How one tragic moment sent him a clear message on what he needed to do next and how that in itself propelled him onto a journey of connecting and supporting others who struggle with their mental health.

And of course, I asked how music played a part on his own health journey, how he uses it and why, plus what band had a massive impact on him…and he might have thrown a little challenge in there for me!

Come and join us on this inspiring episode around mental health, music and some fun bits, too!

Benefits of using music to help with emotional eating, with Niki Sibera

Benefits of using music to help with emotional eating, with Niki Sibera

On today’s episode I chat to Niki Sibera, a Food Freedom Architect and founder of Happy Hearted Eating.

Niki is a wonderfully calm and centred lady, who had her fair share of trauma to work through, which she did amazingly well. Now she is passionate about using all she has experienced, lived through both in her private life as well as through her work in the health care sector, to support and empower other women to NOT use food as a mask for what really is going on - or as Niki says, ‘listen to the whispers from the pantry and the fridge’.

This is a great conversation around food, healing through music and of course we cover which artists have helped her along the way to process all that had been going on in her life.

Find out more about Niki:

As a young 52-year-old woman, she is pivoting from a 6-figure corporate career in health care leadership, using the heart healing work she has done over 30 years to transform her traumatic childhood experiences, into being a fierce guide and mentor for women who are ready for Happy Hearted Eating

Now she is on a mission to walk alongside women to stop finding herself holding open the door of the fridge or cupboard, feeling miserable because she can’t seem to help herself. Thinking she’s all alone, that she’s a total failure and wondering why the hell she can’t seem to pull herself together. In the work that we do together, we explore what’s behind the eating, to see how her own trauma monster has taken over her heart and taken over how she copes. He has learned to be compassionate with her trauma monster and would like to show other women how to do that too so that the cupboard and fridge doors stay closed while the heart opens wide and we get to Happy Hearted Eating! We can’t diet our way out of ‘stress eating’. So rather than focus on what you are eating, together we focus on what’s eating you.

She leads with her heart so she can make sure the people around her know that she cares deeply, including her clients. She asks heart-focused questions so the heart can shine through – and then she gives a hug after. She helps others grow by creating a safe place – even people in the grocery store line up end up telling her incredibly personal things. They know they are safe with her and that she sees the beautiful person they are, even when they feel fucked up. She has a magical way of seeing right into people’s hearts. People feel seen, heard and understood when they are around Niki.

She wants all women to feel free – to learn how to tame the whispers from the fridge. To not feel alone and desperate. To not feel ashamed anymore. Learn to flip that switch and feel so sparkly on the inside that you shine!! Let’s all get our Happy Hearting Eating on!!

In this episode we cover:

· What made her walk away from her corporate job

· What traumas she experience in the past and what music supported her in her healing journey

· Why music is medicine in her eyes

· Why businesses should integrate music much, much more in their every day work life

· Her final words before we wrap up the episode

How Prince has helped Rebecca evoke her own sexuality, with Rebecca Lowrie

We all know Prince, or so I hope. He is an artist that many have a love/hate relationship with due to him being an artist that might have not been easy to understand.

However, no one can deny the genius he was as a musician! And that is what Rebecca and myself cover a lot in today’s episode, and much more!

Here’s little bit about Rebecca:

Rebecca Lowrie is a Somatic Sex Therapist and expert in men’s sexuality. She has played and worked in the realms of self-awareness and personal/spiritual development for over 25 years, the last 15 of which have been specifically focused on awakening men to their true erotic nature. She is an author, podcast host, and the creator of The Sexual Mastery Activation Cards for Men and The Sexual Alchemy Journal for Men.

During this episode we cover:

· Why Prince is THE artist that evoked her own sexuality

· Examples of the genius he was as a musician

· Time where he played a more specific role in her life

All will be well – the power of song lyrics, chat with Erika Michalski

Dr. Erika Michalski has a robust history of providing enthusiastic keynotes and engaging workshops dedicated to empowering participants and cultivating new ideas about professional development. Erika is passionate about creating environments where individuals feel equipped to tackle new challenges as they move forward in personal and professional endeavours. She chooses to anchor all her work by using four primary lenses: authenticity, neuroscience, positive psychology, and evolution ... in other words, there’s a little something for everyone when Erika gets involved!

Erika’s story is one of very high and super low phases. It shows how life can bless us and test us, but also how much of a support music can be.

In our chat, Erika shares how one artist has continued to play a massive part in her and her family’s life, especially when her husband went through a very scary health battle.

Plus, the amazing gift she organised for her husband with the help of that musician who wrote that one song that supported them through the highs and lows of the lives.

On this episode we chat about:

· Her take on the importance of music for herself, her family and society

· How her wedding song has supported her during a crucial and testing time

· Why a mixCD (tape) has continued to be a source of strength

· What made her pull over on the Interstate and break down

· How she created a special (music based) gift for her husband

· Her favourite song and why

· Why she has an authenticity playlist

How can music be used to support advocacy? | With Rachelle Babler

Rachelle Babler grew up in Southern California near the sunny beaches of San Diego and has always been an avid traveller, musician, advocate and creative soul. At the height of her career in forensics in 2017, she quit her job cold turkey to pursue her “why”. Which is 'To empower others to consciously advocate on stage or through music, SO THAT they can heal, inspire and unite the human collective'.

She is a #1 International Best Selling Co-Author, TEDx Speaker and proud mama to her two children Austin and Camryn.

During our time together we chatted about her upbringing, first career and what led her to take the step into entrepreneurship, which now has turned into a passion for advocacy through music.

We touch on the steps she uses in her program and how you can make a start in creating a song to advocate for a cause you are passionate about.

“Right now, don't wait, like we may not get that opportunity. I love that with my clients who take the leap to take their speaking to the next level and to really create human impact because we don't know when our time is going to end on this in this lifetime. And you don't want to have those regrets. You don't want to have should have could have would have, I wish I would have done this, or I wish I could have done this or anything like that” ~ Rachelle

During our chat we touch on:

· Her backstory around music & her childhood

· Early lyric writing

· She rediscovered her love of music and writing lyrics / music 20 years later

· Her sister’s diagnosis of colon cancer & the song she has dedicated to her

· Change of career to work with storytelling and advocating through music

· How her 'advocating through music' program has come to life

· More about the process of her work / program

· How make a start yourself in creating a song to advocate for something you are passionate about

· Song that describes her life/biz right now

How the loss of a loved one combined music & coaching | Featuring Eric Bauberger

How the loss of a loved one combined music & coaching | Featuring Eric Bauberger

In today’s episode I chat with Eric Bauberg, a Holistic Life Coach and Motivational Entertainer who works with people one-on-one as well as in groups through his workshops.

Eric’s story is a sad yet fascinating one, where surrender plays a massive part in. If he did not learn to surrender, then the tragic death of his beloved sister could have had a different outcome. Yet, through being able to surrender he connected deeper with his sister and this enabled him to finally step up and into the person he is today.

Listen to this incredible interview to gain insight into how to deal with a terrible loss of a loved one that turned into a journey where music and coaching come together and inspire others towards their greatest self.

A bit about Eric’s work:

In his one-on-one coaching, he guides self-aware individuals to tune their minds and their bodies, so that they could create more ease and flow as they move towards their greatest self.

When Ben is hosting workshops, he tries to teach certain principles, certain tools, while telling his own story and infusing his own original music in there to really influence the energy, but also to really ground the message of what he is trying to say and where it has brought him in life.

During chat we cover:

· Eric’s life up until the moment that changed his life forever

· What he calls the ‘gift of tragedy’

· Why he felt he led a double-life

· Moment of his sisters’ passing & what surrendering has to do with it

· How music played a particularly big part in this tragic phase of his life

· The message he now shares with others around spirituality & music

· Examples of how he moved from ‘fear to fuel’ as a musician

Why you don't need to have it all figured out in your 20s with Philippa Robinson

On this episode of the Living on the B Side podcast I welcome Philippa to the microphone. Philippa is a proud Northerner, who studied law at university, and she spent most of her career exploring the UK, subconsciously seeking "home". She settled in the beautiful city of Bristol where she now lives with her husband, two teenage sons and Bob the dog. She proudly supports Nacoa (the National Association for Children of Alcoholics). Discovering a joy for writing, wild-swimming and even running (slowly) in mid-life has been a fabulous surprise. Philippa has a podcast (Meeting of Minds) and is a certified coach. Her memoir, I See, Me, was released on 30th November 2021 and is available in paperback and on kindle at Amazon. Can a song show us how we have evolved?

Can a song show us how we have evolved?

Have you ever thought about how the meaning of music, or more specifically a song can change for us over time?

In this episode I share my thoughts on this question as well as an exercise that you can do very easily that can answer this question.

If you are a little bit like me, then self-development can be a bit tricky at times; you might feel you aren't getting it or not making enough progress, etc. etc. However, you probably are further along than you think, and this is where music can help you find proof of that.

Come and take 10 minutes out of your day and let’s spend some time together, on the B Side of life.

On today’s episode:

· My reason/inspiration for creating this episode

· How to use music to find proof that you are making progress

· Simple exercise that you can do to see this for yourself

· Example how I used it for myself with a specific genre of music
