'Avatar: The Way of Water'
It's been 13 years since 'Avatar' premiered and became the highest grossing movie of all time, which is why the first teaser trailer for its long awaited sequel is a big deal. Jim and AJ review the latest trailer for 'Avatar: The Way of Water' and discuss why this franchise is so popular. But first, they have some things to say about the trailers for 'Men' and 'Weird.'
The Best Trailers of 2021
Say what you will about the movies of 2021, but their trailers were pretty commendable. Despite COVID, trailers did the best they could to get people excited about movies again. AJ and Jim each present their own Top 3 favorite trailers from the last year.
JIM DOES 'DUNE' (finally!)
Jim finally gets to dish out all of his thoughts about 'Dune,' and there's a lot. They also get nostalgic with 'Jackass Forever' and discuss medieval facial hair in 'The Last Duel.'
The Return of Marvel, Musicals and Movies in General
'Mortal Kombat' and Living in a Filthy, Waterless Hell Hole!
In this episode we take a look at the ultra violent 'Mortal Kombat' trailer, debate the intentions of 'Cruella,' and give an oral history of the origins of "The Snyder Cut." Oh, AJ also describes what it was like to live in Texas last week.
'Godzilla vs. Kong' and WB's 'Same Day Premiere' Trailers
For our main event, we review the first trailer for 'Godzilla vs. Kong,' an upcoming Warner Bros. movie that promises an epic showdown between two of cinema's most iconic monsters. It looks big, dumb and fun – just how AJ wants it. We also have a bone to pick with another recent trailer from WB that promotes all of their movie releases for 2021.
'THE BATMAN'
Nothing like a Batman trailer to bring us back from hiatus. In this episode we reunite to talk exclusively about the new trailer from Matt Reeves' 'The Batman.' This episode is sponsored by our friend, Lino.
We're Trying Our Best: Trailers in the Time of COVID
As movie theaters shut down across the country, studios are delaying their movie releases and pumping the brakes on their trailers – leaving us with little to talk about. So in this episode, we set our sights on 'The Invisible Man', which recently jumped from theaters to Video On Demand, and compare the movie to its trailer. Also, in keeping up with the very timely theme of checking on each other's health, we share updates on our own experiences with COVID-19.
This episode is sponsored by the one and only Ian Phillips. Thanks for your support, Ian!

Jim Tested Positive for COVID-19
Jim shares what he knows about the Coronavirus after being infected by it. Conversation then turns to the changing state of movies – and if we're going to see a decline in their trailers. Finally, we draw parallels between life as we now know it and the trailer for Steven Soderbergh's 2011 outbreak horror film, 'Contagion'.
‘The (Dark) Green Knight’
'F9' and the Oscar for Best Trailer
The Best Trailers of the Decade
From a superhero blockbuster with promising potential to a dark biography that still haunts us with its ideas, these are, in our humble opinion, the best trailers of the last decade, ranked.

'TENET' backwards is 'TENET'

Jewels & Gems
AJ and Jim each present two trailers from this Fall that stand out from the rest. Among those trailers are Clint Eastwood’s ‘Richard Jewell’ and the Safdie Brothers’ ‘Uncut Gems’.
'Star Wars', Christopher Nolan and 'Marriage Story'
In the recent wake of Disney's D23 Expo, we talk about the latest 'Rise of Skywalker' preview and why JJ Abrams is like a kid playing with toys. We also review a synchronous pair of trailers for Noah Baumbach's 'Marriage Story', which stars Scarlett Johannson and Adam Driver. And for those not lucky enough to have seen it, we give a dramatic retelling of the secret trailer for Christopher Nolan's 'Tenet', which is playing in theaters only.
Our First Look at ‘The Irishman’ and This Year's Oscar Hopefuls
Every Fall season comes with a heap of movies vying for prestigious awards, and with Fall on the horizon we're beginning to see these movies' trailers. The biggest of these awards contenders might be 'The Irishman', a highly anticipated gangster epic reuniting Martin Scorsese with Robert DeNiro, Joe Pesci and Harvey Keitel, not to mention Al Pacino (who Scorsese has never worked with before). In this episode, we review the first full-length teaser trailer for 'The Irishman', addressing topics like "face technology", Netflix's possible release strategy, and just how much the world missed Joe Pesci. We also review trailers for 'Jojo Rabbit', a delightful-looking anti-war satire from "visionistical" director Taika Waititi, and 'The Lighthouse', which might be the most unique (i.e. weird) movie among this year's awards seekers.

'Cats' and 'Top Gun: Maverick'
At this year's San Diego Comic Con, two trailers stood out from the rest. One got arguably the worst reception you could imagine, and the other stirred up more excitement than any trailer that's premiered there in years. In this episode, AJ and Jim talk about what went wrong with 'Cats', and what's so remarkable about 'Top Gun: Maverick'.
‘The Farewell’ to ‘Rambo’ and ‘Terminator’? Plus, the Golden Trailer Awards
'It' vs 'Joker': The Killer Clown Special
We hope you love scary clowns as much as we do! With 'It Chapter Two' and 'Joker' coming to theaters this Fall, two of pop culture's most iconic scary clowns will take turns terrorizing us at the movies. We're here to size up their trailers and answer the question everyone is DYING to know: Who would win in a fight – the demonic It or the psychopathic Joker?
Once Upon a Trailer... in Hollywood
Trailers don't just promote movies these days. They're now used for shows, networks and streaming services. That's why in this episode, we review the trailers for a movie, a show and a streaming service. First up is a teaser for perhaps the movie-est of movies; it's Quentin Tarantino's star-studded ninth film, ‘Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood'. From there, our focus turns to television, where we discuss the trailers for ‘Stranger Things 3’ and Apple's soon-to-be streaming service, Apple TV+.
This episode is brought to you by Scott, J.D., and most importantly, Clary.
'Star Wars: Episode IX' - An Emergency Podcast
It's been one day – fine, business day – since the highly anticipated teaser trailer for 'Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker' dropped, and from the title reveal alone, there's a lot to chew on here. We dive right in to discuss the opening scene of the trailer; the apparent course corrections J.J. Abrams is making now that he has retaken creative reigns; the Emperor's laugh; and yes, what our thoughts are on that newly unveiled title, 'The Rise of Skywalker'. Let's talk 'Star Wars', y'all.
Addressing the Genie in the Room
It’s time we talk about Will Smith’s genie in the upcoming live-action remake of ‘Aladdin’, as shown in the movie’s latest teaser as well as the full-length trailer. But that’s not all we talk about this episode. We review three exciting trailers for movies that recently premiered at South By Southwest — ‘Booksmart’, ‘Good Boys’ and ‘The Art of Self-Defense’. We also discuss the epic super teaser for Martin Scorsese’s ‘The Irishman', which made a surprising debut on the Oscars telecast. You know what we don’t talk about in this episode? Marvel. (Sorry, Marvel fans.)
The Best Picture Nominees Ranked by Their Trailers
It's our annual Trailer Made Oscar special! AJ and Jim each present their own list of this year's Best Pictures nominees ranked by – what else? – their trailers. We'll also compare each movie with its respective trailer and decide on which is better — the trailer or the movie. Plus, some cool trailer news.
'Hobbs & Shaw' and 'Shaft'
We compare the trailers for two buddy cop movies, 'Hobbs & Shaw' and 'Shaft'. Then we throw a spotlight on the trailer for 'Apollo 11', an upcoming documentary that looks astonishing. We also discuss the 'Child's Play' remake, which has a good cast but not such a good spin on Chucky's origin story. And fulfilling a request from AJ's mom, we review the trailer for Gina Rodriguez's action movie, 'Miss Bala'. Finally, we dissect the Super Bowl spot for 'Avengers: Endgame' (which isn't a trailer, but it's our show and we do what we want). This episode is sponsored by our friend, Greg.
Extremely Tone-Deaf, Shockingly Positive and Fun
We were spoiled with the amount of trailer hotness that recently dropped! We discuss the super teasers for 'Ghostbusters 3', 'Game of Thrones' and 'Space Force'. We get into some action franchise big hitters like 'Spiderman: Far From Home' and 'John Wick 3'. We then get indie with 'The Beach Bum' and 'High Life', and are very confused by 'Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile'. There's something for everybody in this episode. Boom!
This Episode Is So 'Us'
We're back! And we missed you. Now there's a lot to catch up on, so let's do this. We revisit some of the biggest movie trailers that dropped in the last few months, like 'Pokémon Detective Pikachu', 'The Lion King', 'Men in Black: International', 'Avengers: Endgame', and last but certainly not least, Jordan Peele's 'Us'. We end the episode with discussing our favorite trailers from 2018. It's good to be back.
